Nothing like a appalling loss....

On the glass half full side ... back in my day, I played in a team that lost to the bottom team and then went on undefeated to win a premiership.

Fast forward 20 years, and the last time we had a pasting like this was against Geelong in 2006. Wasn't there a BBQ at Rick's place and then the rest of the season got us a to prelim final?

Ah, to dream, perchance a purple dream! Not sure where that line comes from but it's all I can cling to ATM.

I reckon we are more likely to pick Adelaide off just like we did last year and in 2004 and then go on to get belted by Geelong following fans talking up a magical Freo upset against the cats.

I have faith that whatever problems we have, organisationally and within our football division, that they are being addressed.
What do you base that on?

Personally I have faith that the complete idiots who run the club from top to bottom will be doing as little to improve things on the field as they have done for the past 13 years. And I don't expect one new employee to change that.

That's the part I don't get. Seriously - I'd really like someone to explain it to me.

How, if you know you're playing like shyte and the intensity is down - how can they not do anything about it?

Coulda, woulda, shoulda blah, blah, blah - but we coulda woulda shoulda beaten Hawthorn 2 weeks ago if not for the 3 goals we conceded in the first 25 seconds of the second, third and fourth quarters (and the two stupid goals we conceded in the dying seconds of the 3rd quarter).

Fast forward 2 weeks and what do we see? A Richmond goal in the first 30 seconds of the game.

Why, as a group, did they not go - hello, this looks familiar, we better get our shit together and lift our intensity.

Then they go into quarter time 5 goals to 3 down - how can they not think, geez we were crap that quarter. We were outplayed by last years wooden spooners. We really need to get our shit together and lift our intensity.

So they go take their positions for the start of the 2nd quarter and do it all again. The same again, if not worse!!! Nothing but a brief spark, get to within 10 points, get us all excited and then... back to sleep.

So another 5 goals to 3 quarter and they are looking pathetic, and they go into the half-time break, and we are all thinking... this can't be how it turns out. They'll pull it all together now.

But nooooooo... they come out for the third quarter and dish up the same shit again.

It's three quarter time and we're now 6 goals down and I am thinking, alright fellas, even if the game is out of reach, how about you win the last quarter, how about some pride.

What was I thinking???

So what I don't get is how can there be no change in their attitudes, or so little done - not so much by the coach, although I am sure that must come into it too - but by the players themselves?

They've got 2 hours, it's not like a bloody sprint where you make it or break it in the 10 second you've got. 2 hours to make the changes. Apart from about 5 minutes in the second quarter, Richmond owned the game.

What happened to "wresting the momentum"? Why was it so hard to start chasing a bit harder? To get in there and get first hands on the ball? To start looking interested?

How can you start so crap, and stay so crap for 2 hours of footy? How can you not say, "geez we're getting belted, we'd better lift our game"?

Seriously, I just don't get it. :o

Felt and feel the same. Have you cut and paste this to your blog page? Would be great if some players read it!

How are you feeling about this today? I have tried to calm down and think rationally, but even though I have calmed I still think about the same as above.:(

The last team we were pantsed that bad was Geelong 2007 at home again by 11 goals. Pretty recently actually.
