I'd probably expect Nicholson and Evans to move down, maybe Strauss, Fitz and Blease as well.

Not while they are still rookies. Strauss is a chance, and Blease has moved to 17, the number he wore as a junior.

1 hasn't had much luck of late, might be worth putting it away for a while.

11 should be used, Clark or otherwise (Martin?, Gawn?)

I hope Max keeps 37 until he proves himself worthy of 11. That's what Jimmy did and kind of seems appropriate.

Any number changes that come through make sure you post it in the change rooms clean up thread & I'll adjust their number in the thread.

What has Fitz done to desearve a number upgrade?

We need to make these kids earn it, not be given it

Sam has earnt it, wants #17 cos it is the number that his dad played in and he played in as a kid.

Just for the record I would be happy to upgrade his number.

But can you explain to me how he has earnt it?

He has played what 3-5 games and had 1 good game in a 100 flogging of the GC. Hardly what I would call earning it

We actually only beat the GC by about 30.

Hopefully one day somebody with a silly number like #50 just keeps it.
...and becomes a legend of Barassi proportions.

Can you imagine the look on their face when the CEO presents #50 to a subsequent top draft pick down the track in honour.:D

The thing is, we will have four new rookies joining the list, what makes them more deserving of lower numbers than Nicholson/Evans who have actually done jack shit? Or will we just keep climbing higher and higher because no one 'deserves' higher numbers?

Earnt it in the commitment and effort that it takes to come back from the double leg break that he had to play AFL footy, and to come out and do it so well in his first few games. It's been a long slog for poor Sam, and it's fantastic to finally see what he has to offer after all the hard work he's had to put in.

I don't think 31 will get a gig for quite a while.
I reckon we've got someone lined up to take the #31 jumper in 2012, and won't be using it next year.

If we take Billy Stretch down the track, I'd like him to take over the #18 from Brad Green.

I don't see how giving Sam Blease #17 over #46 is a reward. They are both obscure football numbers and it obviously something he wants. Didn't his father die when they were watching football together, or was that another draftees dad?

This is different to Jamie Bennell being given #7, an important number, and continuing Brad Miller's tradition of weak football.

Personally I reckon the number is only what you make of it. It's a psychological thing really, and if a player could convince me that it's something that they will show they deserve, that's good enough.

And it's not just about match performances. How you train contributes just as much to your reputation at the club, and how you conduct yourself.

Perhaps Bleasey could be the Dees' best No. 17 since Brett Lovett or would that be a massive stretch?
