Why Haddin? Players like Triffit and Paine have performed better this season. Even Ben Dunk performed better last season.

Any team with Bad Haddin and Steve clarkesmoker Smith is just upsetting. Terrible line up.

Steve Smith is averaging 66 with a strike rate of 114 in the Ryobi this season, but sure...he only got picked because he sucks Michael Clarke off...let the anti-Smith shit resume.

I've only really got 2 objections with the squad, considering this rotation bullshit is here to stay.

Haddin shouldn't go anywhere near an australian team ever again, full stop. If they're going to persist with resting wade, then one of paine, trifitt or neville should get their crack, they're the next tier coming through, not bloody hard hands haddin.

We need another specialist bat in that team, Haddin is a keeper/bat, and hussey and smith are basically playing as batting all rounders who will split the 5th bowler role.
Ideally i'd stiffen that line up with making the D in D.Hussey an M.

I actally dont mind the squad like seeing new players come in and see what they have got, The only thing i dont understand is them leaving Hussey out which i dont mind since he isnt going to be there in next world cup, But then they pick Haddin and D.Hussey who neither will be there in next world cup so dont understand that.

He's done okay as captain of Tassie. Maybe he knows a little bit more about the caper than you give him credit for.

I have no doubt he knows an awful lot about the game and its not me saying he is a atrocious captain, just not a great one. Even decisions like bowling Stryis in the last over last night left me at the time saying I thought Laughlin was a better option for the 20th over. Small decisions like that make him in my opinion not a great captain.

Whether I am right or wrong is highly debately but I opinions are certainly not formed without any thought or reasons, especially 'negative' opinions about Tasmanians, who I usually to go in to bat for on this site

I rest my case.

Who gives a shit how Smith wears his hat. If he is making runs what other criteria is there?
Agree. I'm not a Smith fan by any means, but he is doing well in ListA and is clearly ear-marked as one they hope is good for the World Cup. Why not pick him.

Did u ever think the reason why Stryis bowled the last over was Klinger and Readen where both in and He was hoping if they get 1 of them out he would bowl Styris the very next over but that never happend so he was forced to bowl the last over.

I don't understand how they can drop Hussey with an eye to the future but then include Haddin instead of Paine. Haddin has been in poor form and at 35 is surely done at international level.

I am very underwhelmed with the squad.

How can you say with a straight face that you are dropping Michael Hussey because he won't be there at the World Cup, yet pick Haddin and Dave Hussey?

What exactly has Ben Cutting done to deserve being promoted in 50 over cricket? I wouldn't be totally against him being considered for test cricket, but in one day cricket he is pure cannon fodder even at state level. I just think there are better options available for one day cricket.

Steve Smith again? What is Khawaja doing in there?

The things I do like is that Hughes has been selected, he has proven that he is one of the few domestic batsmen who is a class above in the Ryobi Cup. Finch has also been deservedly rewarded for his terrific domestic one day and T20 form. Also pleasantly surprised that Christian has not been included.

I like seeing new players get a go, but it's kind of sad the way CA treats the home one day series' these days. No doubt they'll lament the ordinary crowds, but refuse to aknowledge that this is a product of the disdain they show for the matches. How many more people would come in to see Mike Hussey go around for the final time or Clarke continue his golden summer or to watch Warner and Wade smack a few? It's a shame because as we saw last summer and in recent World Cups, the Sri Lankans have a very strong one day lineup and would be a bloody good matchup for our full strength side and could provide some memorable matches in front of some good crowds.
Agreed with all of that.

Khawaja, Smith, Haddin, No Huss? Ridiculous.

However wrapt with the Hughes selection.

Cause he's the back-up keeper. It's pretty simple. With Wade hardly about to retire, they don't need to pick a future keeper, and Haddin is pretty likely to be at the ashes. It makes sense to pick him instead of Paine who likely won't be there.

I would build the top 4 around Hughes at 3. That might mean Haddin opens which isn't that cool, but I want to see Hughes given a shot of nailing that troublesome first drop spot. It'd be nice to see Maxwell/Smith up around 5 but they'll probably chicken out and put them at 7

Ok with the Smith selection, but Haddin with an eye in the World Cup is a joke. He is batting well enough for a spot, but he is going to be well passed his use by date by the World Cup. So the policy of the selection panel makes no sense to me.

I hope Wade focuses purely in the 4 day game and getting his keeping and endurance up for India and England.

They need a keeper (Wade needs a rest/some keeping practice), and I guess they want some experience in the team. Personally I'd go with Paine myself, but perhaps they don't want the problem of him performing too well so that Wade isn't an automatic reselection for game 3.

That is a pretty good problem to have though.

Regardless they're sending mixed messages here. Either pick a side to get experience for the World Cup or pick the best available. Haddin shouldn't be in the squad under either criteria.

Bugger game 3. If Wade is going to keep in India, find the nets taking the most spin and inconsistent bounce possible and have him keep to every spinner available for a month.

Not sure why people say Dussey wont be there for the World Cup, come the World Cup he will be same age as Mike now and he is playing just fine...

Glad to see they left Mike out, first thoughts when he retired is why bother letting him play out the summer? Much easier surely to try out replacement batsmen at home when you can pick as many different players as you like rather than when you are overseas

Agree with the first bit...

But the second... A bit of respect for the bloke who has been a great batsman, one of the great modern-era batsman
