Bullshit. Warner and Wade are hardly automatic selections. Hussey has retired. Watson is injured. Clarke is the only absolute definite who would come into the side right now (along with Watto if fit).

Finch and Hughes have been absolute guns in the ODD format for 2 seasons now and should become permanent fixtures in the side. I don't agree with the Haddin selection, but Wade has hardly been much better in one dayers of late. Bailey also could lay claims to becoming a permanent fixture in the side, as he is one of the best finishers in the country. Usman is just there for Test match practice I reckon, but is still 3rd on total runs in ODD this year at a healthy enough strike rate, so his selection is fine.

So, please explain to me how this is a clear 'B' team?

I was going to post something, but it'd pretty much be this. People just have their knickers in a knot about Hussey not being selected. I can see why to some extent, but it's purely sentimentality.

It's not about the new players not being good enough to play in the side. It's the fact that if everyone was fit and available (and the selectors weren't bitter about Hussey), you'd see 5-6 different guys in the team.
It still doesn't mean they are a B grade side, just like tonight showed against very good opposition.

Agreed, I doubt there would have been a huge uproar if he was playing.

Cricket is a statistical game. How else are you meant to make an argument?

We can't all construct compelling arguments like this:

Pshhhhhh spuds. Eating my hat, Bailey, all star knock its warranted. Spud Maxwell only enhanced his image as a spud after hauling out for 6 and throwing absolute pies down at the Spud Lankans. Still a spud in the general consensus book. Back to the point however. Ofcourse you can look at cricket in the statistical sense, but really dude starc and pattinson both average over 30 as test batsmen, that dose not mean they are good batsmen. What i mean when i say statistics dont mean everything is that you can get a few not outs, get a few turns of luck and all of a sudden you have a world class average. You have to look at how they get their runs, how many outside edges for 4, how many dropped catches, who the opposition is, shit there are that many factors in an innings that any spud playing less then 10 games can have a stellar average. No spud is pulling the wool over my eyes, I want seasoned performers. Like what big D.Husssssssss did tonight what a super star.

Spud city.

so i'd assume smith and cutting will play the next odi (the selectors did say they would look at all of them)...before the selectors pick the squad for the remaining 3 odi's.

smith probably will come in for maxwell but i wouldn't be surprised if he comes in for khawaja or finch.
cutting will come in for who knows with the rotation of the bowlers in odi's.

I'd give Maxwell another game. He might've not come off with the bat or the ball, but his fielding showed he's never out of the game.

Starc has calf soreness.

Looks like the so called sports science geeks screwed the pooch.Old fart Inverarity will be looking for heads to roll.
How did they allow him to play after 2 tests back-to-back when they were shit scared he'd get injured after the previous time he'd played 2 tests back-to-back ?

DUMB ARSES !!!

hmm yes the rotation policy is basically designed to avoid back and foot stress injures which are preventable to some extent and things you oughta to avoid, as opposed to calf and hamstring injures which are well hard to avoid

What exactly has Richardson done to deserve a spot before McDermott, Coulter-Nile and Faulkner?
