ODI Squad

The last ODI against England at the MCG got 34,845 in January 2011. I reckon the crowd will be around the 30k mark - possibly just under. We do play them again in ODI's next summer in January, plus the first match of the World Cup at the 'G.

On the other hand we got humiliated in the 2010/11 Ashes

Do you really see us doing anything like that with Lehmann in charge and with us likely still aiming to get to no.1 in all 3 forms of the game?

If it hadn't been for us sending MJ home just before the 7th and last ODI in India recently (so that he could start preparing for the Ashes) we would have gone unchanged for that whole ODI series.

I'm expecting much the same for this series, especially with the T20's in between it and our next test series. I think something would have to go "wrong" for Marsh or NCN to get a game, so it may just come down to whether we rotate anyone to get Patto a game or two.

its a home series, so expect plenty.

i just wish ODIs would go away. the least entertaining of all the formats

Lehmann did say a few of the boys are likely to get a few of the ODI games off. I expect Johnson to play the first few and be given a rest before South Africa. Clarke, Warner and Watson will probably get a rest as well. Full strength for the first game though.

I'm not expecting plenty. Lehmann does not seem to be remotely interested in rotation.

He does in one dayers. He even rotated himself out of the 7 match tour of India.

Probably a good exercise to look at the English squad...

And the stupid poms still don't pick the cleanest striking Pom in Australia.

(Alex Hales for those of you playing at home)

I predict McKay will be replaced in the starting XI by the end of the series. If he continues his current form he'll struggle big time here.

I didn't say drop him due to that series, I said if he struggles early in this series I expect him to be dropped.

It just shows that he hasn't just been in poor form in FC and T20 cricket, he was also in poor form in ODI's. He needs to regain form quickly otherwise he'll be the odd man out with Johnson and Pattinson in great form and Faulkner a lock to play.

With how devestating Faulkner was with bat in hand and the remarkable transformation of Johnson, I think we can afford to play the two together.

It is up to the keeper though I assume. Does Haddin bat high in the order? or is he used as a finisher?

Id prefer to go high with him, play Faulkner at 7, Johnson 8, Pattinson 9, McKay 10, Doherety 11.
