Ben needs to be away from footy to rebuild his life. I actually think Nisbett chose good language to make this point too
 
he has been such a great player. its is unfortunate to see his stellar career end in such a fashion. i understand wc sacking him, but the afl deregisting him? but a ban on him? on know that this would send a "clear" message to all players, but he has a problem (to what extreme????). i think that the afl/wc should see him through the problem. i know he has had 1 chance........

They will still help him through. Deregistering will just prevent any other clubs picking him up
 
I know there must be personal responsibility and self help but I do wonder where were his 'real friends'? Adrian Barich said on radio tonight that 'he's been partying hard for weeks'. Surely someone, somewhere should've grab him, held onto him and prevented anyone within 50k's that was bad news, until the plane left for Malibu.

What stopping Richmond grabbing him in the PSD? I guess he has to nominate firstly. but it certainly puts an interesting spin on things if Jarred Brennan goes in the pre season draft too.

Yeah but who ? The guy is 29 years old - what's supposed to happen? He can't be tied up.

No. Its time he faced up to the issues he's created. He's an arrogant bastard that has done more damage to the club then good (and that's saying something given he is such a great player). Here's why:

- gets himself in trouble in public repeatedly
- repeatedly associates with people he shouldn't
- makes a half assed fake apology
- gets a stupid tattoo implying he's the victim
- throws away his talent thus letting down the playing group

I hope he stays away from the club completely and doesn't bring anyone else with him.

I'd expect Vlad and his goons to announce Bens playing future when he gets back from wherever the **** he is at this time.

I know that your right and I don't expect the club to give more chances. Some of the damage is irreparable, I'm sure.

I just think, I dunno his parents maybe? they don't care how old you are. Chicky maybe, seeing how bad things were getting? (BC was living with him so assuming he did). Or a friend that's nothing to do with a profile, and wouldn;t care if Ben ended up hating them so long as they did something.

Blind Freddy could see that the guy was going to struggle following the death of his mate, anyone would. And an addict may only respond to being held onto, lock him up, tie him up, whatever worked.

All too late now though.

ffs he has got a drug problem that causes him to have serious mental illness.
He doesn't need to be restrained. He just needs to go to rehab where he can get that help that he needs.
 
a classic example of a young, troubled man with too much time, way too much money, and an idea that he is somehow immune from punishment.

Terrible shame; just hope the media will leave him to recover in peace.

Don’t get me wrong… Ben was awesome on the field!!! But I ask this question…. Where was the duty of care from A) Player Manger (Nixon) and B) the WCE footy club?????

13 odd weeks of rehab does not constitute (in my mind) a meaningful duty of care…. WCE needed him to play in ’07 and so did his manger for that matter, they let him play without dealing with the real issue at hand.

Sorry Ben but WCE and your manager had a hand in your down fall…..
