Sheedy at the B & F Count last night said that there would be 7 or 8 players leaving. Very interesting as I thought it would be about 6.

Possibles:
Rioli
Rama
Renolyds
Bolton
Henneman
Cartledge or Laycock
Peverill maybe?

The chances are that Sheedy may keep on or two of those above, meaning IMO that there is a strong chance we will trade an established player.

I think they would want to keep McPhee unless a great trade comes up! the same could be said about the Johnson's!

yeah I agree our backline is week as it is why would we want to trade oneof our better players, the only reason he had a poor season was because he was playing as an extra midfielder type to help with the loss of hird during the games he was out. When he went to the backline his form improved immensely.

i still think welsh will be offered around, he is juts to looose.

I think Mcphee suffered from a lack of confidence.
imo he is a confidence player, who when the team is up and running, plays very well, but when the team is down he is not one of those types who stands up to be counted when REALLY needed.
He was dropping marks, fumbling and making poor decisions.
I'm not suggesting we should trade him, and i would prefer to keep him ,but if we did get a very good trade for him it wouldn't be a dramatic loss.

Bombers start making changes

September 14, 2006 WIDESPREAD change is underway at second-bottom AFL club Essendon, with a new chairman and another mass player exodus to come.

Current chairman Neil McKissock announced at last night's club best and fairest count that he would step down from the role, with vice-chairman Ray Horsburgh the early tip to take over.

The Bombers will decide their new chairman in December, while McKissock has one more year of his current term on the board to serve.

Next year will be critical for Essendon, which has just suffered through its worst season since 1933.

Coach Kevin Sheedy, who will come out of contract late next year, said last night the Bombers would turn over at least half a dozen players.

Last year, 10 players left the Essendon list.

McKissock last night presented the Crichton Medal as Essendon's best and fairest player to key forward Scott Lucas, who previously shared the award with James Hird in 2003.

Lucas polled 239 votes to finish ahead of midfield player Jobe Watson (221) and veteran defender Dustin Fletcher (208).

Watson also won the most improved player award.

10 last year, 7 or 8 this year. Thats nearly half a list in 2 years. Questions need to be asked if we are turning over so much and we are getting worse.

don;t tell me the drop is due to the huge influx of kids because kids come in every year and we have consistently taken 4-5 kids each year, plus rookies.

You need to remember with the draft being so deep this year, common sense suggests the right thing to do is to give the club every chance possible to get as many from this 'superdraft' on our list as we can fit.

There is no doubt that the club has drafted poorly in the past - how many players are going to be left from 99-01 (or even perhaps 02) after this seasons delistings - I'd say not too many....

but things are getting better, 2002 onwards we have done pretty well.... Unfortunately we've ran a lot of our snr players into the ground in the meantime which means more delistings.

Not sure if its true or not but in another thread it said the doggies delisted jesse Wells- 196cm ruckman/forward. WB 2nd pick in the 2004 draft. Maybe worth looking at for the rookie list?

If youre that tall and cant get a gig on the doggies forward line .... something must be seriously wrong with you.

this trade might sound stupid but what about
m.johnson for j.kelly
i mean mark johnson could go to play with his bro
while James Kelly could help out our midfield

i won't happen i was just thinking thats all

The third year in a row the Mark Johnson to Geelong trade has come up  Time to move on . If MJ wanted to be at Geelong he would have left two years ago when Geelong showed some interest!

Yes but we havnt had to play 8 or 9 of them every week until the last two years. I dont think a lot of questions need to be asked as i think the answer is obvious. The drafts from 99 to 02 simply havnt produced enough and the kids from the last three drafts have had to fill the void ready or not. Add that to the decline in some of our older players and you get to where we are at now.

I don't think J.Kelly is what we are looking for.
Hes not quick and although this is still to be proven, may be he is a front runner, as his form dropped dramatically this year coinciding with Geelongs poor year.

andrew maher on the 5th quarter "Well they need a ruckman" reffering to us. WHat an idiot, we have Hille and 2 up and coming ruckman on our list
