It's actually quite an outside posibility, we will be using our draft picks this year, not trading them away for mid 20 fringe players and if we don't find anyone better for the PSD I will be extremely dissapointed

Well I know for a fact that he is in your clubs thinking. He would still be at the crows if he didn't have a run in with Neil Craig when he was an assistant. Lots of talent just needed the passion to return (which it has) if he ends up being picked up I have no doubt he will go well.

Then why would we give up a late pick? The only people who would know he is under the Bombers' radar is the staff at Essendon themselves, I don't see why in hell with the position we're in atm we'd give him another go when there are so many talented youngsters coming in this year

Exactly....we wouldn't

Another guy on the internet that "knows for a fact"...p...lllleeease

Plays for Nth Adelaide at present. I think he walked out on the crows last year. So isn't AFL listed.

He was born in 1980 so will be turning 27 next year... I would doubt that he'd be an option unless we were to get rid of JJ and Pev....?

Sounds rather similar to his time at Essendon.

He goes home and does the same thing...yep we'll be jumping all over him.

yeah but what if they sign thornton? then we lose laycock for nothing.

What if we sign Laycock I guess?
We don't really know, but I'd imagine there would be enough interest in Laycock to get something for him, should he want to go. The only concern is that he'd nominate Carlton as his new home and walk. I can't really see that happening.

I agree with you on the contract front a carlton, every club is the same though its always the managers pumpin up the tyres of their players.

Carlton are historically the worst.

thats what i fear him nominating carlton and wanting to prove himself as the number one ruckman, also because carlton have said they want a ruckman around the age of 22 which rules out gardiner, everitt and keating, unless carlton are oing for leunberger in the draft then i think they would target laycock. The saints also could target him but i think stkilda is more likely to implode and try for gardiner.

The saints could go after Laycock!

Don't be surprised, he is still at a good age and is one of the best players outside of the AFL. Trust me it is a real possibility.

Interesting. I heard something the other day to suggest he would be quitting the sanfl at the end of the year as he is finished with football all together at afl/sanfl levels.

Ok just heard that Lads has been given the indication that he is a actually only a small chance of being picked up. However Ladhams did have a secret meeting with Kevin Sheedy about 6-7 weeks ago regarding going back there.

Believe what you want... maybe sometimes people do actually know what is going on..... not think they do!

If it was a secret meeting, then how do you know about it unless your Ladhams or Sheedy?

why on earth would we want someone back who turned there back on us? then you way up the options of him being slow and he cant kick far, yeah thats what we need. Hopefully another rumour that sheeds spoke to ben doolan comes to fruition and we can have the ultimate slowest crappest midfield ever seen.

You do!

Hey it's not a rumour, they have talked, and as it's turned out it probably will not happen. For what it's worth Sheedy would not be doing his job if he didn't atleast speak to Lads, and others like him. Like I said he is one of the top players outside the AFL. His only problem is his drive to play AFL, not skill or talent. If you get a chance to watch the ABC coverage of their final this weekend, do so, then come back to me and tell me he is not up to it.

What did they have to eat and drink at this meeting?

I'm rivoted.

Im hoping the garnish was parsley and not some other prohibited substance!

I never said you should draft him just that Sheedy had a meeting with him to discuss where he was at and if he was interested in going back!!! Period.

Don't shoot the messenger girls.

pffft intersted in going back? why have the discussion if its not going to happen which it wont, if a discussion did take place it probably involved an analysis of some of the younger potential draftees that might not be on other clubs radars, to get as much info so the crowes are not hiding another rutten or mattner and co.

i once read a book by sheeds and it commented on how he would travel from place to place to talk to players he never had any intention of drafting killing the scent to other clubs in the meantime he would have a recruiting manager such as noel judkins at the time talk to the player he was really after.

Yawn.... ok bored with you lot. I was just just trying to help give you what I thought was some interesting news about a potential draft pick. But obviously you think you all know best.

Good luck in the draft atleast you have the chance to pick up some guns. We all know you need them.
