Are you saying our midfield is as good as St. Kilda's? If you are, then you really are the glass is half full type of person.

No I'm not, they have us well covered.
But Dal Santo aside, they don't have many midfielders with high quality foot skills nor do they have a lot of pace through the middle.

Their top four midfielders are better than any midfielder we currently have on our list, but i don't think Milne is getting a whole lot greater delivery than what he would at Essendon.

We definately have them covered for pace, just not class.

Dude, you got to get off the drugs!

Why?
I said from the start I'd only entertain Milne at the right price, the right price for us and in my opinion, in this draft it's a third round pick.

Remember St Kilda are shopping him around.

It isn't beyond possibility that we'll get a third rounder for Solly.

Heard Freo had offered or are gonna offer a third round pick for Solly

Same.

If we get that and can work out a deal for Milne with that pick. We'd be winners.

St Kilda have shopped him around, few are interested. It's a buyers market.

I would rather take my chances with a 3rd round pick then Milne.

He is one of those players that go missing when the heat is on. Has there ever been a worse finals player than Milne. I was cringing watching the Melb-St Kilda final.

He goes well when the opposition does not have quality small key defenders but if you put a Mcviegh, MJ, Johncock, CJ then he is easily shutdown as he doesn't have any other strings to his bow.

He wasn't great in that game but still kicked 2.2
He kicked 8 goals from 8 losses in 2006. Hardly going missing.
The last time St Kilda were truely a poor side, he kicked 50 goals for the season.

It's actually pretty hard to kick goals as a small forward when your team is losing.

And that is the very reason we should entertain getting Milne, there is a shortage of quality small defenders in the league at the moment.

Mind you Milne kicked 3 against Brisbane early in the year (11 last year), 2 against Adelaide and 3 against us.

I'd definitly entertain any discussion involving Milne.

With the amount of tall forwards in our side - a quality, goal-scoring small forward is a must.

Wasn't one of those injuries when he tried to jump the fence of the Torquay hotel drunk?

Or have I got him confused with someone else?

I'm pretty sure that was David Spriggs.

He is a footballer in decline and an unpopular one at that. A forward line of Lloyd, Lucas, Johns, Hird, McVeigh, Lovett, Monfries and even M. Johnson is enough.

Agree with you, drafting Mine will be another blunder we don't need. Forget the stats from the poyndexters, they are irrelevant, Milne plays for himself, and gets caught too often now, doing stupid things on and off the field. We don't need that around the club.

Cant ignore Hayes also....leads from example and with Harvey's age and injuries aside, at the height of his powers, his durability was incredible.

Despite these, I have no doubt our midfield will tick along nicely within 2-3 years time. If they gel, have no doubt they'll be in the top 5 in terms of productivity. Is anyone else confident in the progress of our midfield unit?

Id definitely be content with that sort of deal, provided we're in the market for someone down back also. For mine, our biggest weakness is in the back six at the moment..

Spriggs did his knee on a pre-season training run from memory.

Steve Johnson broke both his ankles jumping the fence at a pub....

Unfortunately for him, they only discovered that both ankles were broken once one of them had basically healed and he had started running again. Which meant he spent a lot longer out then he could have...

Don't ask me how someone couldn't realise they had broken an ankle, even if they had broken the other one...

Milne would give us six forwards that averaged over a goal a game in 2006.
Lloyd, Johns, Lucas, Lovett, Monfries, Milne is a seriously good forward line. Probably the best in the league.

I don't think any side has three forwards who have a track record of kicking 50+ goals in a season. Milne would give us that, few small forwards averaged two goals a game over their career, Milne does.

I'd prefer Steve Johnson, but Milne at the right price and the right attitude would be a good addition.

Honestly Longy you talk absolute dribble. Without a shadow of a doubt i would rather use a 3rd round pick on a kid than use it to get that rat Milne to Essendon. Glad to see Milne is the only thing you think is holding us back from being the best forward line in the comp. Stop dreaming, we have to plan for the future and Milne is not part of it

My mistake, a bloke that averages two goals a game and 40 goals a season isn't worth looking at.

I withdraw any comment I made regarding Milne, he obviously isn't worth considering.

The sky is blue.

I agree. With a fit and fast Andrew Lovett for the Bombers. Don't need him.

Just need a good trade for Solly. Maybe Thurstans or Polak and a give Freo a better draft pick.

That gives us Lucas and Lloyddy up forward.
