There's plenty of room on the list, but it's hard to see us going past those first 6 picks.

Whitfield's a lock at #1, but who will join him?

Of the rookies, could Frost be set for an upgrade to the main list?

Wasn't Frost already upgraded midway through last year? Certainly worth pick 122 ;)
I think as a mid-season upgrade he still needs to be upgraded at the end of the season, could be wrong though?

There's Sauce Phillips too, I forgot he was even on the rookie list...

Well Sauce for 104 and Frost for 122 are absolute bargains :)
Frost looked the goods last year inlimited action. I think he will be a rising star next year. One of my favorite young guys.

I also think Toumpas is a lock for pick two!
Sounds about right :thumbsu:

The real question is Grundy. There's a school of thought that we'll trade for an established ruck in 3 or so years when we're starting to rise, rather than using a top 3 pick on a ruckman.

I have heard that as well. Grundy would be hard to go past, Silvani might go o'rouke, but then again might see the value in Using the third top ten pick on a ruck man.

Big question now is if you guys will look at Tippett...any thoughts?

I think that, from the descriptions, Grundy is something special. We'd be on a winner with him, even ignoring the fact that we're short a top notch young ruckman.

Yeah I think if you only had one top 5 pick you mightn't pick him up, but considering we've got the top three I think we can afford to 'burn' one on Grundy.

Hi guys, I was wondering the same thing. Do any of you see space for KT on your list?
If he drops his price, maybe...

Tippett is a player you'd have to look at if he goes to the draft, but he's not a perfect fit on the list and that's a lot of money to pay for a guy who won't necessarily be around for future finals tilts and who, lets face it, probably doesn't want to be at the club. To me, there's a bit of a stench surrounding Tippett now and I'm not sure we want to attract that to this playing group.

Cap-wise, there may be a bit of room but there's plenty of players who have been extended and more to come. Who knows though, maybe the cap has been managed so that the players who need extensions can get them as we'll as having room for a big money play at someone.

Tippett should not even be on our radar. The forward line is one of our strengths.
I would think we would take Grundy. Having signed Giles and with Sauce and Izzy developing ruck skills I like the prospects of that for now and in the future.

Tippett would be a shocking pick up for us but if we want to give some extra support to Cameron or Patton would much rather we looked at Brad Green. As for Grundy he is just too good to pass on and we are unlikely to get a ruck as good as him down the track so we might as well lock & load ;) Grundy now

In my dream draft for us I would like to see:
1 - Whitfield
2 - Toupas
3 - Grundy
12 - Stringer
14 - Plowman
28- Vlastuin

One to keep an eye on at #14: Tom Clurey

From Knightmare:
Height: 193cm, Weight: 85kg, DOB: 23/03/1994
Recruited from: Murray Bushrangers
Style: Ben Reid
Clurey has a solid shutdown game but what has stood out in his play has been his rebounding game and ball use. Showed plenty during the u18 champs and throughout the season. Uses the ball well coming out of the back half and has excellent footskills for a key defender. Strong overhead. Reads it well and can get off his man to take the intercept mark. Endurance elite and tested superbly at the draft combine.

From Chris25:
In terms of key defenders, Tom Clurey might well be my favourite prospect. He hasn't been the best performing defender by any means, but there is just that something there. Something that suggests he'll be a very good AFL defender. I thought he had a good U18 Championships for Vic Country, he wasn't a standout but he did his job. He played on the tall forwards each week, and was not only one out on the goal line but he also played further up the ground at CHB. And when he was given the opportunity to rebound, he generally set the play up with his kicking. Clurey is already a nice size for a defender, just has a little bit more muscle to put on. But he is a real leader in the back lines, and has the endurance to stay out on the ground all day while still matching it with his opponent. Sometimes you watch a player, and just think he would be the perfect fit for a certain team - and Clurey just seems like a typical Sydney KPP. And that is a compliment. AFL Comparison: Ted Richards.

Also took out the beep test at the combine with a 15.1

There is actually a bit of talk that we won't take Toumpas, but personally not convinced that will be the case but as they say time will tell

Serious?? Can't understand why, he is a stand out. Could understand us passing on Grundy as rucks take time and can be risky but Toumpas looks a blue chip prospect. Interestingly we apparently bargained very hard with the Dees for pick 3 over pick 4. Surely grabbing at least 3 of Whitfield, Toumpas, O'Rourke, Grundy was the reason, although Melbourne do seem set on Wines and some believe he was part of the Hogan deal (unofficially!).

Might have been a bit premature to close tippett thread.

Sheedy has just tweeted what appears to be an interest. Obviously making mischief by going public.

Mischief making is the perfect description.

Still fine with the other thread being closed though, since according to the OP of that thread it was a certainty. That's just asking for trouble.

Wonder if this is real interest or just a way to get the club in the papers....
