ydc55 mentioned Connor Evans as a possible.
Have spent a bit of lazy time on the balcony up here on the GC today having a bit of a look at some vision on the laptop and reading a bit about him. Seems like someone we should look at. 182cm defender. Decent intercept mark. Good skills. Long kick. Has had a few runs through the midfield. Is small but well built. Probably would have been picked up most years but last year's draft had a lot of depth, and he was in a group of similar players.

As much as i think Prior has been solid the past two games i would imagine if we went with him that would be the possible spot he would be fighting with

Are any state league readymade rucks that much better than Goldy? In a year that we won’t make finals and need more talent I’d rather target different areas and go for quality developing youth.

Better? Unlikely. Jordan Lukac might be the guy for us. 22 y/o, 198 cm and moves well.

I'd like a half back intercept guy rather than runner.

. One of those guys that can dominate state level but doesn’t have the work ethic or smarts to take it up to the next level and is probably not the right age profile.

Big question marks around his off field stuff as well. Hard pass for me.

I’m not sure goldy can ruck out 17 more games, and what if he goes down aswell. We need another ruck cover.
We are also going to be able to take multiple picks. First pick grab the best young / developing talent. Then grab an extra ruck cover

In our situation as not a genuine top 8 side I’d almost rather blood games into Gerreyn or Vigo. Draper should be fine to go next year and Bryan around mid year at worst.

If we do get a backup ruck I would want them to still have some genuine upside and perhaps some forward craft. He is still a bit raw but Floyd Burmesiter was very good today for VIC Country.

Im talking about a ruck on a 6 month contract just get us through the year, they don’t have to be on the list in 2016 necessarily. If goldy goes down we can’t be relying on vigo, he’s just not ready.

Thinking along the same lines. I am not seeing a ruck I want long term so why not go with what we have. Goldy should hold up for most of the season from here and maybe Vigo can get a run in the back half of the season for a few games. I would be looking for players that have decent skills and can move the footy.

How’d Will Elliot going in the vfl? I reckon he gets a list spot at some stage from what I seen last season. Has a lot of size to put on and I wouldn’t expect him to play afl this season.
