Scott Stevens paaaaaalease!

Yeh, lets drop Ivan "10 year player" Maric in order to play Stevens. :o

Dunno about some of you but I'm getting a bit sick of this kind of talk.

We back Craig and believe things he says like '10 year player' about one player but then don't back him to make decisions on another?

Paaaaaaaaaaaaaaaalease.

I agree stevens has ALOT to prove. He may very well fail this weekend. But we have next to NO idea what is going on between the coaches and the players so if we trust the coach, which we all seem to profess to, lets get excited that maybe stevens has turned a corner rather than expecting him to fail again.

Ill back Craigy, he knows the opposition better than I do and the best match ups.

but i am still nervous about Stevo getting a game.

He did not fill me with much confidence in his last outing.

I am prepared to be wrong however. i do hope that i am.

The ouch should be directed at our chances, not me.

Steves is very, very ordinary.
No actually, it should be directed at you.

Having Stevens in our side doesn't hinder our chances at all. For the balance of the side a tall had to come in and it just happens to be Stevens.

Now I am just waiting for Jericho to get another game so I can bump up another post ;) :D

A tall had to come into the side yes, and why wasn't that than Maric? Only played 26 minutes on the weekend, and did quite well during his time. Kicked a nice goal, and had 5 tackles. However we're willing to drop one of the best prospects we have after 1 game, actually 1 quarter? I think that's wrong, and although Stevens may play well I think the wrong choice was made.

And feel free to bring my comment on Jericho up at any time, because it will never come back to haunt me. Never. ;)

Let me get in contact with Trigg because he obviously made a wrong decision in appointing Craig as a coach

I think Stevens will come in for Bode.

We need an extra tall defender this week at the Telstra Done.

People are forgetting that Kangaroos will have Rocca, Thompson and a resting ruckman as their tall forward. Thats some serious size there and I suspect that McGregor will go to CHB this week and Stevens and Hentschel will be talls in our forward line.

If Stevens doesn't come in we are under-sized. Thats why I would have kept Maric in the side and played Biglands as a tall forward and Maric as a back up ruckman. Craigy knows better so I will go with what ever he decides.
I would have prefered this option...:(

Perhaps a slight overreaction on your behalf? IMO Maric should be in the side, not Stevens who has failed whenever given an opportunity. That’s all I’m saying.

Ivan Maric is not going to win us the game on Sunday and theoretically Scott Stevens should not lose the game for us either, it’s a team game and if he was having a dirty day he would be on the bench where his influence (or lack of) wasn’t contributing to the team goals. It’s not going to matter if either of them two play, Scott Stevens is getting game to allow Neil Craig to make an educated decision at the end of the year, unlike some on hear he would not have written any of his player of.

Ivan Maric is going to be on the list next year (unless something stupid happens and he wants a trade), Neil Craig is giving Scott Stevens an opportunity to play and see if he can grab a spot on the list. He must be showing something on the training track as at Port Magpies in the SANFL so he has been given an opportunity. At the end of the season when the coaches are having a meeting to discuss player delisting and Scott Stevens name comes up Neil Craig would have confidence in making the correct decision in the best interest of the list, club and player

I am not convinced Rocca will play and maybe NC isn't either. The benefit of playing the game on Sunday is there is never a huge suprise, you can tell from the VFL games who is going to play.

NC probably feels if we go too tall then he will push numbers back and flood which tends to negate the height advantage if you do not move the ball fast and then use the super leg speed to rebound.

While not giants, Hart and Basset are big enough to take on most tall or medium forwards, I think it would take someone like McIntosh to go forward to create a problematic matchup as 13cm and 15-20kg difference is a pretty big difference to conceed if the ball is kicked up and in front of him.

I am a litte concerned about our ability to stop the rebound run out of our forward line if we go tall, it can be one of those cutting edges where it may work to your favour if you can take marks but if you do not then you are going to get creamed on the rebound.

Reported on Saturday Central that Bode has not pulled up and Knights is playing and Basset is in doubt.

HMmmm?......given Vince and Porps were in last week does Knights being selected mean the AFC has a "Rotational Policy" with its young crushers.

Given the eveness of the group ATS that would not surprise me.

I thought as much when I didn't hear anything about Knights on the Eagles v Sturt broadcast.

Knights didnt play.

Bernie Vince was awesome :D :D He kicked 6 goals (or 5, I lost count :p ) for the eagles. He played the first half in the centre of the ground, he wasnt that affective and played a lot better up forward. In the second half he moved up forward amd had an excellent third qtr. He just picks the ball up so easily and kicks those really freakish goals.

This guy behind mentioned that Jon Griffen played in the reserves for Woodville. He said he was good at the boundary throw ins, but he didn't think he was an AFL player.

Well done to Bernie again :D

Ah so you made it down to Woodville Oval, good work. :thumbsu:

Thanks for the update, good to hear Vince played well. Any word on Skipworth?

Yeah, and it was freezing and I go for sturt :( but at least Bernie did well :D

Skipworth was good. I thought he would have been one of the best. He played better in the second half and won quite a few clearances :thumbsu: But I didnt watch him a lot...
