I have to disagree with you drivative. Andrew Gaff is a perfect example of someone who lacks body strength but his running, reading of the play, ball-winning ability and even disposal is well ahead of Jetta's. We are talking about someone who averages under 10 disposals a game, rarely kicks goals, and fails to consistently impact across games. His output is very poor, and even his disposal which was excellent before he was drafted has been poor, often having one of the lowest efficiency ratings in our team and particularly on the run he has been guilty of poor and ineffective disposal by foot. His disposal by hand has also been poor.

If he improves considerably he has the potential to be a solid 18-22 player however I do not feel his current output justifies such a ranking, and I am judging him purely on traits not related to strength and size.

I'll never forget TDLs embarrassing attempt at a "tackle" against Essendon just before halftime.

Yeah, I was there and can remember that. :( But also think of his chase and tackle on Dennis Armfield in the final quarter of the Elimination Final against Carlton in '10, leading to his 4th goal which sealed us victory (thanks Wikipedia for details).
He's a work still in progress.
Keep in mind the coaches' comments from before the season began.. the reason he was drafted: "Trent’s first year at the club, where he got an opportunity late in the year and ended up kicking nearly 20 goals. He is a very elusive small forward that if you take your eye off him for a minute, he finds a little bit of space and is able to bob up and kick a goal. His greatest strength is probably being able to read the game and punishing the opposition."

We need crumbing forwards for Reid and other talls. He's worth keeping on the list.

Besides, there's enough players on the potential trade list..

Names on Sydneys trading block according tot the D&T board is Seaby (GWS), Moore (GWS), Bevan, Currie, White and Sumner.

That was an amazing moment! I'll never forget the roar at ANZ for the tackle and the goal.

I'm more down on Jetta (1st round pick) than TDL though.

Everyone needs to lay off TDL, he should've been persevered with more this year. He was Pick 55 after all! That '09 draft is looking pretty promising though with Reid and Rohan. I think TDL will turn into Best 22 player and I'm still very unsure about Jetta. I followed the draft very closely that year and had always hoped Talia or Lucas would slip down to us. I think Jetta has the attributes to being a gamebreaking footballer but he just can't execute it. He was under a lot of hype last year after his NAB cup performance and the infamous behind succession so possibly he is under too much pressure? I feel at times he tries to do too much and be too fancy which doesn't fit with the Swans type of gameplay.

Can anyone see the value of keeping Dylan McNeil(and Gordon) on the rookie list another year?

Have Parker, Murphy & another year of Bolts killed Dyl's chances of a promotion?

That would depend on this week. I rekon N.Gordon will be promoted. Murphy is an academy? and woud get a rookie i imagine. If Bevo, Moore, go, he may get another year, but with Mitchell coming, our mids are doing ok, so, maybe not. Kreuger as well in there getting another year. Ben Haren, injured all year I assume, saw some youtube, albeit juniors, and he looks ok. Anyone else have more info on him?

I think we should keep Dylan on our Rookie list for another year... Especially coming into a weak draft.

And I thought it was relatively certain that Gordon was getting promoted?

Well, um....you see Bedford, its like this, aliens exist and they do control your mind.
Whats that got to do with trade week.
I agree with Cas that Gordon is no centainty. With B2, Brad Shaw, Tige and maybe Moore and Bevan gone we might not have to drop too many off the list.

Well, aliens are running the AFL..but I digress. I think Gordon will get promoted. I have a feeling that Moore is going to GWS. There a few games where I thought he should've been selected, and his ressies form was good. Longmire said he wouldn't play someone going, and I rekon Moore has said he wants to go (contracted?)..I like Moore, he should've played moore(geddit?) this year. Anyone else intrigued by a Mitchell and a Murphy lurking thru our midfield at some point?

Would love to see that. Also Mal wasn't played later in the year.

hopefully just a fitness thing. With Tige gone, mal is a ready replacement. Who knows? Heath went down injured late, and he seems a good fit too, if he can stay fit. All the talk about Armstrong adds to the mystery.

Definitely. McNeil is quality. AFL quality? Yet to be seen, but I wouldn't be surprised. He's a long way behind in the pecking order, but I'd keep him for a third year without question. That said, he may well ask to be traded, for the very reasons you stated.

Gordon will hopefully be upgraded. We'll have a high list turnover this year, with at least three coming off the list already, and you'd expect more with guys like Bevan, Moore, Meredith, Sumner etc no guarantee of retaining a place (Sumner almost a certainty). Upgrading a rookie is a good way of avoiding using very low picks. Gordon is a great HFF and I'd love to see him crack a few games in that position next year.

1. It is a weakened draft... and the draft doesn't have the depth previous drafts have had over the last few years.

2. From all reports he was very good for the reserves this year and he also played seniors football and was listed as an emergency on several other occasions.

3. Retiree's, Trades and possible delisted players, (Retired are Bradshaw, Bolton, Kenelly) (Trade bait/ possible delisted players Sumner, Bevan, Moore and Currie (Could maybe also trade Seaby or White if right offer comes along.) This is going to leave quite a few spare slots on our list... And I think one of them will be taken as a rookie allocation (Please keep in mind we will also most likely be active in the rookie draft as well... and you can only have one third year spot on your rookie list (At least I think it is only one spot...)
