Surely we would only delist Barlow this year (instead of giving him a 1y contract) if he told them he was going to be picked up by another club in the drafts.

If he had nowhere to go, why would we drop him - he brings good leadership, will help develop the young players, is good back up for blakely and other inside mids if injuries occur, and surely we want to be able to defend our Peel premiership next year.

Warning - Quoting Crumpet from 6PR

Good old Crumpet was telling Baz today that he can't understand the fuss being made about Freo's trading because all the players recruited have question marks on them and may not perform.

Then and catch this - he says Freo could have drafted them in the 2011 draft anyhow instead of Crozier, Sheridan etc. It was like Freo are idiots who missed the opportunity to recruit these players previously.

Bloody hell Crumpet you idiot, you cant recruit everyone you want in the one year and secondly we are pretty ok with Crozier and Sheridan but thanks for your concern.

He did not mention the Eagles recruiting but it goes without saying that they nailed this draft like they have nailed the previous 10 and should be rated as A+++

Hill and Hamling have question marks on them? Obviously hasn't watched much footy. Kersten could be great, could be average and McCarthy!! Well he was picked up before our first pick (pick 14) so we had no way of picking him up originally, but he is rated and is as good as any KPF we currently have at the very least.

The issue will be salary cap space. They have to do the sums and see what the B Hill, McCarthy, Kersten and Hamling deals, plus Clarke's new contract do to our books. If they can only offer Barlow or Silvagni minimum one-year contracts, they may decide to take their chances elsewhere as a delisted player.

My sneaking suspicion is that we will only be able to afford one of them, and it'll be Barlow...but at a much lower wage than he was on previously.

Well considering Kersten was taken at pick 34 in the 2011 draft and then developed by Geelong for 4 years and then returned to us for pick 63.

And Brad Hill was taken at pick 33, developed by Hawthorn, played in 3 premierships and 4 preliminary finals and cost us only Chris Mayne in return.

Cam McCarthy was taken at pick 14 in 2013 when our 1st pick was pick 17.

Whilst Hambling was taken at pick 32 by Geelong, developed by both Geelong and the Western Bulldogs, became a premiership player in 2016 and returned to us for pick 35. So I am thinking along the lines of Hagdorn not knowing his arse from his elbow.

He has die-hard Freo hater written all over him. 9 out of 10 footy followers can see our net position from the trade period was as good as any. Anyone attempting to put a negative spin on how we went is either a massive docker hater or has no idea about footy.

We have had our fair share of train wrecks at this time of year but this seems like our best result. We didn't go the desperate top-up players route, or pay overs for anyone. We brought in four WA boys in the right age bracket who wanted to come home and we paid unders or market value for all of them. We'll also add one of the best kids in the land and potentially the best WA kid on offer.

This amateur has ruined footy media in WA for me years ago and now I'm off crumpets too.
