I don’t understand how big money to a few blow ins doesn’t upset the loyal locals in the side. How Rovers survived Prime Time was amazing. He was injured, went overseas for a few weeks and then came back straight into the senior side. Talk about special treatment.

Special treatment is ok if the output is there and team harmony isn’t destroyed. Fev sinking piss on a Friday night then kicking ten the next day while dragging in an extra 5,000 spectators, all is well from where I’m sitting. A YouTube buff who pisses off mid-season for a gondola ride then returns and can’t get near the leather, doesn’t sit well with me. Didn’t sit well with many, Muzza got this one wrong.

The problem is without a cap how do smaller clubs compete nowadays, the best thing was for clubs to see what happened to Wang.


If you want to go over, you better have your T's crossed and i's dotted. That's a lot of work to win a game of community sport. Otherwise we'll see more corowas, with clubs going into recess and big clubs getting stronger. What would yarra and Alburys sides look like without a salary. How do you provide hope to a wodonga or north albury to rebuild, if there's no even playing field to an extent

It takes a special AFL player to drag extra numbers through the gates these days. The kids don’t really care about them like they used to. Their hero’s play American sports now. Fev and Barry Hall were special. Ablett will be worth the drive for the one off game. Who else is or has been a genuine draw card in recent seasons.

Well if you were an ovens and murray club, what would you offer mathieson to play as coach or assistant?

Now lets get real here , ..I would not offer him a thing ,,like hes no AFL gun ,, hes been delisted cause he has not been able to be a good player consistently at AFL Reserves level yet alone be a regular senior player . Hes gone all over the states putting himself on the market and telling clubs the best offer wins and I wont accept anything lesser then ? whatever amount. !!!
Oh and how many years will you committ to us says one club,, in reply just one . your kidding .
And dont even go there about a coaching role of some kind ,, hes never done this in his short playing career,
The big thing is 1 player like this is not going to improve a side enough to win a flag . For me , very poor business

13 votes in the liston suggests he had a pretty good year, and probably got lots of 2 and 1 votes, with the winner Lyons on the same team. Brisbane's midfield incredibly strong as well. He's in he's prime, a big bodied midfielder who can kick goals, strong overhead. He makes you a 5 goal better side, corowa should have been up to their necks trying to get him, he's exactly what they needed.







Plus some of the guys from local leagues might come in. Polo, Hyde were stars of the comp, I'd think mathieson would have been similar

Im not saying he will not be a good player at these levels ,, of cause he will be,,, my annoyance is how hes gone about selling himself ( if correct reports ), and is there a more then one season committment to the club he goes to whom apparently are paying him these huge dollars ( nothing confirmed,, so speculation ) and if the bucks are so big how does a club where hes going to pay this,,, be it The Grange up here in the QAFL. Make a side a 5 goal better side you say ,, I agree ,, against sides that are of lesser quality but against the likes of the top sides up here that will not be the case imo. Admitting that has new club The Grange have been near cellar dwellers for a few seasons and have been rebuilding over the past few seasons and in fact made the Prelim Final in 2023.. so I do not doubt his addition will be a great acquistion on each game day ... Anyway its good for the comp standards and the QAFL will see a number of Afl players such as Daniel Rich at Noosa, Aaron Hall and Tom Hickey at Palm Beach, Jacob Townsend at Broadbeach , Zac Smith at Surfers Paradise, Mitch Robinson and Nai Cockatoo at Morningside just to name a few. Is a very good comp up here now ,,very high standard and very fast ,,

Mate I agree with your point. I’m just saying that your argument about him not impacting at VFL level is a little bit of a stretch

Then waltzes back in the to the senior side, of course the bloody head coach made the call. Schubert should’ve been in from the 18s that day. I lobbied for the kid to be pushed up. I was last tofind out Bailch would come straight back in as I was about to blow right up,I stayed away from the track for that entire week to cool off.To Toms credit he kicked four in the comeback match against tigers,but that’s besides the point. You gotta earn your stripes, it was a bad look. Premierships aren’t won in July, but the foundations are constructed in the colder months, and unless you’re bloody super star you should be coming back through the lower grade. There’s some exception to the rule but the new kid doesn’t come close to that list. I’ve stewed and moved on, it’s a new year, Muzza is still learning , I think he’ll get there, just needs to harden up with selection.
