We are back to the "us against them" thinking, that we had when we were tearing the comp a new one throughout the 70s into the early 80s.
Dont know if he had it in the back of his mind, but is it just a coincidence that a certain individual, who was front and center during that era, and saw how the late great G. richmond operated, played a big part in us now having the same? Food for thought. Me thinks it isnt just a coincidence. We needed a sting in the tail to get us out of the "inferiority complex" the club had built over the last decade and a half.
And the timing couldnt have been more perfect. Emerging young team on the cusp of mixing it in September action over the next 5 years, and now we are with our backs against the wall, and we include a super star, to that emerging team, who wants to prove all his detractors suck and is driven not only by his professional pride, but his wanting to prove a point, who has his back against the same wall. Luv ya work Sheeds. ;)

It fell apart when he left in 1980 and we've got it right again when he arrived back 28 years later. We've been a club run by dumbos that kept waiting for him to come many times over the last 28 years. We couldn't think for ourselves and relied on him, while about 10 other clubs won premierships and plenty of finals appearances in the same time. :o

On ya Coggs a great post. :thumbsu:
Spoken much like the great late Jack Dyer would have said it.

He'd be proud of the way our club has redeemed itself over the last 3-4 years. Lets finish this job in the next 2-3 years and sing our song in September once again.

Go Tiges!

Yep. Time to return to a siege mentality. Galvanises a team/club like nothing else, just ask the Queensland Rugby League team.:thumbsu:

A seige mentality is an us against them situation and we can hardly claim that when so many opposition supporters have been so supportive over the past week.

This is a unique occurrence as there has never been a situation when so many opposition supporters have been so positive about any club.

It's so amazing to see how the general public has reacted to us drafting Cousins. Hopefully he can stay clean and injury free and have an even greater impact for our club.:thumbsu:

Yep. Its the 'siege mentality' but also every tiger fan (or a vast majority) pulling in the same direction.

In a strange and somewhat unbelievable way, Cuzzy has united Tigers across the land (with sheeds smirking in the background:p)

Let's hope it stays that way throughout 09 and beyond :thumbsu: ;)

Agree. Wasn't for nothing his column in The Truth was called Dyer-'ere.

Noone can describe in words the excitement and the anticipation building up to Richmond v Carlton in Round 1.

It will almost be like a mini final. The Tigers of old are back. EAT EM ALIVE!

Yeh Cogga...being the only club to grab Cousins has already allowed us to grab hold of that 'seige' mentality. (one against the world)
I think there could be a new mindset down at RFC. And a proud one too.

Looks like the Giant (RICHMOND) is wiping the sleep from his eyes!
"Were Back!" Bring on rd 1.
