Are you serious? i never worked as an investment banker in australia..but here in Europe, you get paid a fortune.Try Switzerland, i am on a juicy salary and enjoying my life over here

Those lakes - still really blue TP? I couldn't believe how clean that country was. Although the downside to switzerland is how expensive it is for anything and all the rules and the total dislike of the car. (I know Jeremy Clarkson has gotten to me...)

Yes they are...nice romantic place to be in, specially in the evening :D

Yeah its a bit too expensive out here but what you expect, its a rich country. The salary levels are exceptionally high. Here in Suisse, if you earn less CHF 32,000 a year (AUD 34,000) you are considered to be below poverty line.. LOL .So if you are working in Switzerland, its ok for you, but as a tourist, prepared to pay **** loads ;)

Isn’t Switzerland as a country supposed to neutral? (culture rubbing off)

Considering it is showdown week, I doubt you could stay neutral

Not really neutral...lol theres a lot of rivalry between the French speaking part and German speaking part of Suisse when it comes to soccer ;)

I know all about it as a tourist.... At least my partner at the time, his uncle lived in unter aegri so he ferried us around and we didn't have to try and stay anywhere etc.

Dude,

the Swiss are famous low payers, tending to pay their guys a bit less than they should, which is made up off the back of lower state and canton taxes.

the only way to really get the Swiss to pony up, is to work for a swiss co. outside the country. i.e. UK, Bermuda, or the States.

I was in ireland for 2 years, working for a Hedge fund.I always wanted to work in Switzerland, cause as a finance pro, its your dream to work in the Swiss banking system.

Here is a big tip for you. Learn German. If you manage to learn german and apply for a job in switzerland, your chances are pretty good.I personally applied online, directly through Credit Suisses website, got a telephonic interview call and they asked me to come over for a detailed interview. The interview went fine and then they asked me to write a 200 word essay in German :D

Famous low payers? i dont know what you are talking about, but the salary level is higher than what i saw in Ireland. I dont know what you are talking about, but even a clerk gets CH 3,500 here

It was 99.1...I missed out by 0.7, so did Arts/Comm, then transferred to Comm/Law after a year. My biggest complaint is that people with lower scores than me (ie footballers!) got in straight away because of connections. Yes I am still bitter. But lots of people do straight Arts or Comm then transfer.

Well FFS

With a score of 88 I would need an Olympic ****ing medal

So all in all looking at this thread we really do have people from varied backgrounds and different career paths, good to see as I think that makes good conversation, and gets a good mix of ideas from everyone:thumbsu:

I just think well aim high no matter what you do or where you work and never stop looking for opportunities to either learn more or work hard simply to climb the ladder........it all pays off in the end:thumbsu:

Hence why I shouldnt really class myself as just someone who chucks bags, because I guess I do alot more than just that.

Speaking of bags Jacob Schuback name ring a bell?? Whats he upto lately?? I unloaded his AFC bag off an ADL inbound flight this evening:eek:

Start an Arts degree, use your first year to find out what you really want to do with your life, but make sure you get a credit average (pretty well piss easy if you do the work) and you'll be able to transfer into any course you want at the end of the year.

Well, seriously though, i have lived in ireland, germany, sweden and scotland. I have worked in the same industry in these countries and i am earning 50% more than what i used to in these countries. (lets say pre tax). The salary level is pretty high here that i have seen in these countries.I mean i certainly dont earn £100,000 a year, but with experience, i hope to get there :D
