We all know that our historical record is nothing to write home about, but with a few more good years we might actually start to put a dent in the huge deficit of wins our club has experienced over its history.

The asterisked clubs are those that we are likely to see a positive balance of wins against in the near future.

We are currently dead even with the Kangaroos

We are one game behind the Bulldogs and Freo

We are two games behind Port

We are three games behind West Coast Eagles

We are six games behind Adelaide and Hawthorn

If we can better than even the score with these teams over the next few years, we will have the better historical record of seven teams who are currently in the comp.

It will take a long time to even it out with many of the other clubs, but we are making hay while the sun shines eating away at their leads.

It is the essendons, carltons and collingwoods that reflect St.kilda real history, not a bunch of interstae teams that only just entered the comp.

Yes - we have a LONG way to go before we wipe the slate clean against these teams, starting with Melbourne, Richmond and Geelong.

But the foreseeable future sees a few opportunities to get the wood on a few teams. We have just pipped the Bulldogs and the match this weekend against the Kangas gives us the opportunity to get ahead of them too.

vs Fremantle (-2), vs Port Adel (-4), vs Hawthorn (-5), vs West Coast (-5), vs Adelaide (-6), vs Bris Lions (-6) might also be attainable within the next few years.

I don't know about the rest of you but it makes me proud to support a club that has such a large and loyal supporter base in spite of those rather embarrassing records. :thumbsu:
