I have done a bit of game watching and amateur scouting and have come up with a few names that we might look at come National Draft.

KPP: Adam Grocke 193 cm / 85 kg (mainly CHF) from North Adelaide. I have watched a few videos of this fella. I have also spoken to a few people that deal with these sort of things and they reckon the kid is a real talent. Can play at both ends of the ground but is mainly a CHF. Someone compared him to Jonathan Brown.

Midfielder: There are a number of candidates here but the likes of Cooney are definetly out of our reach unless we get a top 3 pick.

David Kellett is coming along nicely and looks to have improved a fair bit from last year. He looks a bit quicker than he did last year and should go in the first round (at this VERY early stage)

Small Crumbing Forward I personally think that we are in need of one once Ronnie retires as i would like to see us use Schuback as a midfielder and Ladhams further up field.

Harry Miller is a dynamite 17 year old from Port Adelaide Magpies. A real excitement machine that is a regular goal kicker at senior level. Similar sort of player as Jeff Farmer. He does need to get more consistency into his game. A real livewire.

Finding a ruckman is bloody hard these days. I have watched Michael Griffiths once and in that game he was very good. I would like to see him a few more times before I make up my mind. He is a towering your fella who is very mobile for his size (207 cm / 95 kg).

If we manage to land Adam Grocke, we should develop Rutten into much needed gorilla full back. I think we we managed to snare the fella we would have potentially very imposing 2 tall forwards in Hentschel and Grocke.

What do you guys think we need instead of a ruckman?????? Give me your toughts on the type of players we should be looking at come draft time??????;) :)

Saturday night showed up one of our greatest needs - that physically strong defender that can stand the occasional gorilla type forwards like Lynch.

Not sure that Rutten is that man. He has scads of footy ability, but my one worry with him is pace. He should be working on that aspect over the coming off-season to give himself a real chance for next year.

As for a KPP, Adam Grocke from North Adelaide would do me fine. Tell me young Stiffster, is he likely to still be around by the time of our first round pick (providing we haven't traded it)?

Goalkicking small forwards can be matchwinners so if we could land a good crumbing goalkicking forward that would be good for the long term.

You can never have too many mid-fielders as we have shown this year. Kellett looks okay but not quick, although he has very very good skills and a great footy brain.

What do you think of Lee Treeby from the Eagles as a hard-working hard-running midfield type Stiffy?? I reckon he can play and would make it if he gets the chance.

We definitely need a young ruckman on the way up - we could afford to give him 2 to 3 years to fully develop so it is more of a long term and fill-in need rather than one for the main 22 right now.

I think he could be. He is considered to be 1st round pick. I hear there is a couple of good KPPs in Victoria that are considered 1st rounders. I think we could be lucky and Adam would still be around when its our turn to pick, provided we don't trade 1st round pick. Apparently he had CFS last year. He is a strapping young fella.

I think Harry Miller will be a very good player. He knows where the golas are. He is a bit of a smokey who could go as high as 1st round pick and as late as 3rd-4th round pick. A bit like Anthony Corrie last year.

I think he could be handy but at this stage I have to see more of him. From what i have seen so far he would be around a 3rd to 4th round pick

Bloody hard to find. I think Griffiths could be a very good tap ruckman because of his size. Reports suggest he will get drafted. When???? It remains to be seen.

I think Rutten could be a good FB. You are right he has to work on his pace. If he can improve that, I think he would be a very good FB.

I went to the North V Glenelg and Centrals V Port matches last weekend. I cant say i really noticed Grocke or Kellett, but I saw Kellet against Sturt. Good skills and cool under pressure.

Miller was excellent last week. A real little dynamo, I'd be very happy if we got him.

Griffiths is very up and down.

I watched Griffiths on Saturday and at times he did some good team things - stopping a North goal. At other times, Griffo looked totally uncordinated and missed easy marks. Uncle Steve seems to think he needs more time in the B's. I think Rooster Wedgie was impressed with him.

Yeah, that's what I had in mind Stiffy. No earlier than a 4th round draft pick unless he comes on in leaps and bounds. Ben Nelson will almost certainly be delisted at the end of this year and I was looking at the possibility of Treeby as a replacement for him, but with a lot more pace.

At this early stage I'd see Smith, Schell, Nelson and Shirley as the players in the greatest danger of being delisted.

Marsh might hang in there if we continue to have no other back-up for the main 2 ruckmen.

I think Kellett got injured very early in the game this week Jerome.

He did look good against Sturt

I think Treeby should be a better option than Nelson. At least he has more development left in him.

I was thinking the same as far as delistings go and Marsh keeping his spot if we don't get a ruckman. I think our best bet is to trade for a ruckman unless there are some other available from Victoria. There is still that promising kid from WA.

Wouldn't it be absolutely great if we could get Grocke with 1st pick, Kellett with 2nd and Miller with 3rd and to top it off we get Jamar via Trade.

We are allowed to dream aren't we?!?!?!?!;) :) :D

I forgot to name another midfielder. Salim Hassan from Westies. The guys got pace to burn and is a goalkicker when he is rotating through the forward line. A real livewire. Great skills bad hair!:p

Definetly not a top 10 pick. Second round draft pick is probably what you could get for him.

I really hope we get the fella. I also happen to really like Nick Smith and Daniel Bell any chance for leting them come our way?!?!?!?!:p ;)

Never :) . Daniel Bell is the next Michael Voss (big call I know).

I doubt the club would let him go for a 2nd round pick, especially if his form continues to be as good as he was last week.

And as for our SA picks from last years draft, Rivers is set to debut very soon (maybe this week) after some very impressive displays in the VFL.

Not in a million years

We could have drafted him much lower than that and didn't so I cant'see it.

He is too slow for a first round pick.

Second round at most.

Or you can have Marsh Shirley and Nelson:D

I like the the look of Mathew Stokes fom the Eagles as a small forward type. Anyone else noticed him?

I have said somewhere before that he is an impressive young fell who is playing great SANFL footy. My only query is his size (170 cm 73 kg). I think he could be the go for a rookie list. A bit of Paul Medhurst about him.;)

A bit off the subject but any word on how Schuback & Jericho are performing with West Adelaide 2nds & how long before they make the A grade side ???

Schuback is doing well while Jericho is inconsistent and has been playing every possible position in reserves including stints in the ruck:(

Reidy & Fantasia were rapt in Faulkner prior to the draft, & really keen to get him.Rohde expected him to debut this year.....you wonder if there could be some renewed interest there from the AFC...........especially given the Bulldogs financial plight.

& Nick Smith would solve the key defender role immediately & slot in nicely.

I'm certain they will promote Parker straight onto the list..... his improvement given that he's only played 7 or so games, in a new state , new team ,new coach away from family & familiar surroundings has been every thing the Crows would have hoped for.Greg Anderson has already said he will be a future star.....the AFC would have loved to have heard that.

Personally think they will keep Marsh & play him as the second banana to Biglands when the Doc eventually gives it away..by then Biglands will have developed nicely & be champing at the bit to play the sort of footy only Gardiner can play these days......that means the concentration need only be on a young untried ruckman not someone they would have to trade too much for.

I don't think the Crows have much to offer....... certainly nothing other clubs would kill for!......... maybe Bassett please God !!!

On another thought with Begley now in the side & playing off a half back flank or wing means our defence is looking taller,is definitely quicker & better structured.. as the bloke can play....with a bit of confidence, persistence & allowed to settle down we may have found a real good defender that can take the 3rd best or tall pacy half forward that we traditionally have problems with....his effort was one of the real pluses last Saturday night....the guy is not just confined to the back half either he can play through the midfield & has played across half forward..A ready made player that offers a lot !

I for one would be estatic if we get Faulkner as the kid can play by all reports. Apparetly he was ready to make his AFL debut but he has a fractured foot. I doubt we will get him this year unless Reilly gets homesick and wants out. Faulkner would still be under minimum contract next year. Maybe we could get him the year after.

I don't think too many people took much notice at the end of last season when I was really keen for Adelaide to trade for Begley. They didn't but shrewdly picked him up around draft pick 68 instead.

I was delighted to land him because I knew he could really play, as he showed everyone against Brisbane.

The only down side is that next year he will no longer be the extra tall backman once Smarty retires - rather he will become his replacement.

Smart might go on for another year. I think Parker will take Smart's place eventually. Hopefully!!!!!!;)
