With all due respects Jamar is not worth a 1st round pick. Not in a million of years. He is a good prospect but his value is not more higher than a 2nd round pick. He has some good attributes but the lack of other attributes such as pace, disposal etc do not make him a 1st round pick let alone a top 10.

With a top 10 pick you can get yourself a much better prospect than Jamar via trade or via draft.;)

I think Treeby should be a better option than Nelson. At least he has more development left in him.

I was thinking the same as far as delistings go and Marsh keeping his spot if we don't get a ruckman. I think our best bet is to trade for a ruckman unless there are some other available from Victoria. There is still that promising kid from WA.
Marsh has to go as he is not up to AFL standard. Surely there is some other ruckman (or 2) out there somewhere that we can draft / trade. I will be very annoyed if he along with Schell & Nelson are still on the list next year. Better off bringing in some young talent than going for players that have been tried & failed.

He only survives as a poor man's insurance for injury to our ruckmen.
He will survive if we don't get a ruckman via trade because going into ra draft hopeing to draft a good ruckman is very risky. I think if we can get Jamar Marsh will not be around the place in 2004. That is a big IF. Not many clubs are prepared to give up a ruckman. If we can work some magic and land us a quality big man I guess we are stuck with Marsh for another year.;)

BTW, if Jars is correct and Goodwin is looking to go interstate,:( how would you feel if we traded for someone like Ottens??????

Sure, for this year ... but for next year, there must be a ruckman (or 2) out there somewhere that should be a top priority for drafting/trading. There is no plausable reason why he should remain on our list (unless he undertakes an urgent heart transplant).

Ottens as he was in 2001 (I think it was 2001) - sure would. He was the best big man in the AFL that year, and would add a huge dimension not currently present in our side, while we could groom other young players to take Goody's place.

Marsh shouldn't survive as we must be able to find another ruckman. Ottens would look very good in a Crows guernsey, but would hate to lose Goody.

I know Michael Griffths personally and he has alot of potential and should be targeted by the AFC as a future ruckman!!!!

Clarke probably at best has another 2-3 yrs left Biglands will be around for a while but I feel he needs to work on his rucking a bit more over the next few yrs.

Ben Marsh is just a dud and will be gone at seasons end.

At the breakfast on Sunday morning in Brisbane Gary Ayres was asked about the future of Marsh and he said he had a future at the club and just had to wait, which is a nice way of saying he will be given the flick at the end of the season:D

I think we need to continue to also target future forwards to replace Carey and Burns when they retire and also a couple of very good defenders to replace Bickley and Smart.

Whats different now noddy? Ottens is injured and surely you would put him to the test before trading for him.;)

Goodwin would be a big loss but I always say it is much easier to find a good midfielder that it is to find a good big man. Ruckman and CHF are 2 hardest positions to find players for. As much as I love Goody (and I would love him to stay), if he decides to go we have to make the most of it. Even if there is a quality ruckman in the draft that is a top 5 material it would be worth trading for a top 5 pick.

Didn't the bombers show some interest in Marsh during the last trading period & nothing came of it ??

Can't really see any way we can trade him now unless he does something out of the ordinary this year & a rival club takes a bit of notice of him otherwise it could be a de-listing for him at the end of the year ( that is if we have a replacement ruckman in the wings)

.

If i'm right Ottens is suffering from a disk injury to his lower back something similar to what Gary Lyons had/has & in my opinion would be to much of a risk to trade someone as good as Goodwin (perish the thought) for.

NO deal. Sorry fellas.

Not totally out of the question.

Kane Johnson and Goodwin are good mates - I used to talk to them down the trots a lot as they are part of a syndicate that races a good pacer called Talunga.

Look how good Richmond are going this year without Ottens. They have gained an A grade on-baller in Johnson and are developing other good smaller options.

Add Goody and you then have one of the best mid-fields in the game. And that's where the game is lost or won in modern day footy.

Ottens is a South Aussie, so it would be coming home for him.

Probably won't happen, but not impossible.

Correct about the Bombers noddy. They had no ruckmen and still wouldn't trade for him.

A 3rd round draft pick is all we could hope to get if we could manage to off-load him in a trade.

I'll guarantee one thing though. If we delist him, he'd be snaffled up like steam in the pre-season draft (with the equivalent of about a 4th round draft pick) as an insurance policy by another club.

I think you are spot on. If we delist him Collingwood will snap him up before you could blink, eeerrr wink!;)

I don't know about that. I would've thought the same thing about Ricky Mott last year, but he didn't get taken until the rookie draft - which Marsh is too old for.

I rate Goodwin fairly highly but top of range bigmen are hard to find and thats what Ottens is. Admittedly we have performed well without Ottens this year, but if he makes a full recovery we'll definetly be better with him in the team. Stafford performing so well in the ruck will allow Ottens to play full-forward and Richo out at CHF giving us a pretty lethal pair of tall forwards.

I think in the past Ottens has said being in Victoria has helped his football as he hasn't had his mates as distractions as he would have if he was drafted to one of the Adelaide clubs. However as he matures I can possibly see the day where he might want to return home, but hopefully it doesn't happen.

In future please specify which Jars you are on about.

As the senior member, I should be referred to as Jars and TopJars referred to as Toppy or something else;)

Can be confusing, but I tend to refer to you as "Jars" & TopJars as "TJ".
