Do you believe that our rapid ris to the top is because:-

a) Good player management and retention

b) Placing value on early draft picks

c) Good Trading

d) The AFL's current system of rewarding consistant losers with the alocation of draft picks.

What are your thoughts??????????

I think you're a ****er.

The sad part is, you must think you're really clever.

We worked you out after your first post.

Get a meaningful hobby.

I just wanted to your thoughts on matter that everyone baggs our football club about.
Sorry if your not grown enough to talk decent issues.
If you just want to pump up the side all the time go join the cheer squad!!!!

No, you wanted to fish.

I'm the fisherman- you're the little helpless fish swimming in a pond.

You've got to be kidding with this?

I would have thought the negative reaction to your first post would have shown you something were you on the level.
I was prepared to give you the benefit of the doubt before, now I'm not so sure.

It is that all the draft pick you have been give over the past few year have started to play good footy

see AFL reward teams that are no competion to the reat of the AFL.

You clearly have no idea.
Easily 7 out of our top 10 players right now are home grown (Aussie, Milne, Harvey) the result of good trading (Penny, Gehrig, Hamill, Voss).

I'd say our rapid rise is mostly due to our players getting a further year together to mature as a unit. We set the groundwork late last year, it was simply natural progression.

Our best performed draftee in my book has been Terry Danniher! ;) What a legend this man is, he has transformed the forward line into the best in the AFL.

I would have to agree with Big Sainter. St Kilda have benefited over the last few years on the AFL awarding teams that finish near the bottom on the ladder. ie if you finish last you get awarded by providing little back to the AFL via pulling small crowds, etc, to games. In the past if you finish nineth (ie Geelong, Richmond, Hawthorn, etc) you get penalised in favour of the team that finished last.

I think it would be fairer that the first eight picks on the draft are pulled out of a hat and distributed to those teams that fail to make the eight.

This may stop teams losing on purpose.

What do you think

Finally someone on this site that wants to talk footy not just throw around childish insults.

I agree juice boy but being a saints supporter i dont really have a problem with the way it is working at the moment, but maybe the system should be changed so that teams carn't take advantage of it like we have.

I dont know who he follows, but it is patently clear that big sainter is not a supporter of St Kilda. His posts are insipid trolls which irritate many of us - probably mainly because of his misleading nic.

Juice-boy (apart from that one game that Carlton threw) name some games that you suspect a team has lost on purpose.

I may be naive, but I don't believe it happens (to struggling teams anyway) - I suspect that the gambling industries may have an influence at times, but not for the betterment of draft picks - more likely to create an upset that they can greatly profit on.

I also suspect that juice boy is big sainter.

It is sad that he has to be the only person to affirm his own troll?

How many other nic's do you have ?

I actually thought the original post was a fair and reasonable one.

The Saints started in a blaze of glory but have fallen away, this I put down to the coaching dept.

The Saints have an extremley healthy mix of players age wise.. They have classy and skillfull experienced players mixed with exciting and talented youngsters..

Just imagine what K. Sheedy would be doing with this side.

Therefore I beleive the original post to be relevant and interesting.

there is no doubt that the Saints have both traded and recruited very well, some of their choices are seemingly inspired.

It's still too early to tell, they may still go on and take the cup..they CAN BE THAT GOOD, though the question remains.....

Can the coaching dept mix it with the best when it comes to September?

Webe won two games since the movies, albeit against the two bottom sides :(

this week though we have a chance to beat essendon who cant really play against strong sides, but then again i reckon we're only really up to collingwood's standard at the moment as a team, but with essendon coming off the subiaco hangover, with no Hird, we are in with a chance.

btw i reckon its best if we finish fifth, because port and the lions have 1st and second wrapped up by now due to their more favourable run home and form; if we finish fifth we have a home final against Kangaroos, Sydney, Essendon or (hopefully) Fremantle. if we finish top four we will play brisbane or port away and lose confidence - which will mean we go out in straight sets.

So if we lose to essendon, it aint that bad.
