I normally don’t like Patrick Smith but that was a very good article about Neil Craig.

Quite profound about how Neil Craig viewed the coach as a general in the battlefield and I must say that I it was a very good read.

Funny how people's estimations of a journo rise when he writes something positive about one of their own.

I actually don't mind Patrick Smith, in general. He's an opinionated pr.ck - but his stuff is almost always entertaining and provocative - even if you don't agree with him.

Thats true, but in relation to Patrick Smith and this article its a bit different.

This is an unusual article from Smith because for once, instead of attacking a player/coach/club/administration/the world, he is actually portraying someone in a positive light. For him, its a huge change from the norm.

I used to be a big fan of Smith, because he does call it as he sees it and isn't afraid to let rip at anyone.

Unfortunately that is the only way he usually writes, and he now comes off to me as attention-seeking and pedantic.

This is a nice change, and yes it is made even nicer by the fact it is about Neil Craig.

I wasn't actually having a crack at anyone on here - just an observation.

I've definitely been guilty of saying "did you read that cr.p Patrick Smith wrote today?" on many occasions. He frustrates me, but I still always read it .....

True, but it's not necessarily the glowing report of Craig that makes it good for me. What I like is it gives real insight. The type of stuff that you would never dream of reading from an Advertiser journalist. It really was different to the bland, same old football journalism that we're used to.

He sure is a talented writer. But I also agree with other comments, and his attacks on players/coaches/clubs etc. can we way over the top at times, no matter how entertaining it can be.

Roger Rabbit - agree with your thoughts on Patrick Smith, he is one of the few journalists I read, he may get his opinions wrong in my mind on some occasions but I still class him as a 'must read'.

I thought it was a pretty poor article to be honest - I just hate his style of writing.
That last line was a really lame way to end it.

True.

He is still a better journo than 98% of them out there.

That article makes too many assumptions IMO. How exactly would he know what Craig's deep thoughts are about those matters?

I don't mind Patrick Smith. His articles on Jana Pittman were hilarious.

Well he must have been truthful then coz Drama is a joke.

Good article by Smith.
Can you imagine the tension, comments, stats being thrown around the box on game day? Then of course there are the rotations and comms to and from the dugout and maybe the radio comments shared from a listener within the box, TV commentary perhaps....sh? t how DOES one think!!
