Who'd you take? Surely you'd take Pavlich...

Nope. Surely not.

I think everyone forgets that Riewoldt was the guy who deserved the 2004 Brownlow, even if he didn't win it. If it wasn't for an injured 2005, this wouldn't even be discussed.

Pavlich.

Whilst Pav has stepped up in the past 2 years, Riewoldt's game has gone down. Personally I think Riewoldt is yet to claim Superstar status. No doubt about it, he has all the ability in the world and is very close to it but for mine he's yet to snatch it.

He needs to, for example, take St. Kilda those few spots up the Ladder and perhaps win that one or two Finals games for them, like a Judd, or - Pavlich.

Until his goal kicking improves, Pavlich is better. Both extrodinary marks, both versatile, both mobile. The thing that separates them, IMO, is that Pavlich is a noteable match winner by foot, where as Riewoldt - whilst having plenty of the potential to - isn't ATM.

But hey, give me either of 'em ;)

Pavlova for mine, he can kick goals when they matter, bloody good leap, play forward back and why not throw him in the middle for some party tricks.
A good question though, what would your club have to sacrifice to get one of these fella's there?

Pavlova for me to.Ummm who to sacrifice to get one of those two. From a swans point of view youd have to say a Ryan O'Keeffe and a 1st round pick, hypotheticaly of course.

People voting for Pav have short memories.

He has played 150+ games and only recently has he started to dominate them. Riewoldt has only played about 110 and has been a superstar for about 4 years. Was easily the best player in the comp in 2004 before he busted his shoulder the next season.

Even though he was injured 2005, he still came back and kicked 60+ goals last year in a season that wasn't rated too highly.

As it stands now, Pav has some mightily awesome games, but still has too many games when Freo are down and he goes missing. On the other hand, no matter the state of the game the Saints are playing, you can always count on big Nick to be the hardest working bloke on the park, to keep presenting and get the job done.

I think i would take Reiwoldt, he and Fraser have dominate St.Kilda's forward line for the last few years, where Pav hasn't.
I think this year will be a big year for both players, especially Pavlich, i just think he is going to have a great year and dominate.

It's close but Pavlich for me

Riewoldts kicking for goal when the pressure is on is a current weakness that he needs to address

You are rating this on the amount of Goals Pavlich kicked early on in his career aren’t you...The fact that Pavlich played back and got AA then play a season or two in the middle and got AA doesnt mean a thing...Short Memories hey

As good as Riewoldt is Pavlich is better....

He got AA fullback and never played there, or did you forget? A very bizarre selection indeed. My memory works fine thanks.

Now, I don't question that Pav is a terrific player. Never would. However, Nick has without question been in that top group of players for a far larger % of his career and still maintains a higher degree of consistency (although Pavs best is possibly better these days - maybe).

As I recall, Pavlich was AA CHB. Could be wrong but I remember he was at the very least, an excellent CHB. Never seen Riewoldt play there.

Pavlich:
best and fairest 2002, 2005; 2nd best and fairest 2003; 3rd best and fairest 2004; All-Australian 2002, 2003, 2005; International Rules Series 2002, 2003; leading goalkicker 2005; AFL Rising Star nominee 2000.

Riewoldt:
Player honours: best and fairest 2002, 2004, 2006; All-Australian 2004, 2006; International Rules Series 2004; AFLPA MVP 2004; National AFL Rising Star 2002; pre-season premiership side 2004; captain 2005.

Not quite sure which side your taking here. I thought Pav from your opening comment, but then the stats seem to support Nick. 3 B&Fs v 2 in a side that was far better than Freo's (until 2006) and in about 2 seasons worth of games less. Also re: AA selections. Reiwoldt had been selected as a CHF or forward player in competition with J Brown, Pav, Tredrea etc. Toughest position in the comp to earn AA. Even in 2006, Pav's best season, your stats say he didn't get AA and Nick did (and it still wasn't Nick's best season).

I sure hope those stats were to help pump Nick's tyres, because they have failed Pav.

just for you.
AA - 4 (02, 03, 05 & 06)
B&F - 3 (02,05 & 06)
Leading Goal Kicker - (05 & 06)

and 2006 wasnt pav's best 2005 was when he was AA CHF, and just think it wasnt until mid 2004 that Pavlich became the main CHF for Freo

All it really does is prove how similar they are as players. I'd still take Pav any day of the week.
