Adelaide pick #64 Alwyn Davey (South Adelaide)

Now that we are down to a late pick I don't feel that using this pick on Davey is such a risk. He is an exceptional talent, and is not just being looked upon because of his surname..he can play alright and absolutely must be given a shot at the AFL.

The crows need another crumbing, goalkicking forward to support Matty Bode and Davey will add sheer pace and deadly skills and agility to the forward line a forward line that has lacked a top crumber for a long time. Has the potential to be every bit as good as his brother, excellent defensive tackling and chasing down from behind, immese forward line pressure to hold the ball in. Was always quicker than Aaron, altho they are about the same now, exposure to the AFL could see his game step to the next level. Not afraid to win the footy either and can run thru the middle. Lightning hands in close. I have no doubt he will succeed at AFL if given a chance so here is that chance.

SYDNEY PICK 65 Jesse White (Southport)

Another Queenslander for the Swans and looking for a key position player.Showed at the Championships that he handle CHB and with a basketball background I see him as having a lot of improvement in him yet.Good size and physically strong and will be given time to train up although he does have a body ready to go now.

Pick 66 - Joe Anderson

188cm flanker/midfielder who is very athletic with very good endurance. Very professional and hard working, his kicking has improved as the year has progressed. At his size he could prove to be a very powerful midfielder in time. Once again went with best available, would have liked to go tall but there isnt much available in that dept. Anderson has alot of talent and could develop into an interesting type down the track. Either as a midfielder or even 3rd tall type.

Bulldogs got pick 66 as part of the MacDoodle deal

Edit: you're picking for the Bulldogs. Sorry, I assumed you were doing Eagles picks. Oops.

Nice pick up TOA - I took him in the first at 60 and he was very close for my 63.

Think your description is very accurate - also very cool and ideal for setting up plays from the back half. Apparently worked his butt off to be cherry ripe this year in the hope of being drafted.

One of my real favourites.

Selection #67 - Carlton - James Frawley - North Ballarat Rebels 193cm & 80kg

Absolutely amazed James is still available. Bottom aged player who looks to be fairly versatile. Could play in either one of the key defensive posts, but can also run and carry.

Good job by everyone involved :thumbsu:
Just wondering if you blokes were doing the PSD or Rookie Draft as well?

Pick 69- North Melbourne

Daniel Caire West Adelaide

gone tall, tall, middy, tall now its time for another middy, daniel is a small (176cm) onballer, who attended Sacred Heart College, has come on in leaps and bounds this year and was south aus 3rd highest possie winner at the carnival, not lightning quick sprinter but very good beep tests and 3km time trial runs means he can keep a good pace all day, also has exquisit skills

For consideration for my last pick in this Phantom Draft I have on my list players still available Kiel, Geary, Chris Smith, Jesse (Smith) White, Sheringham, Pfeiffer, Weeks, Sheldon, Dean ********** etc…

I also had a few smokeys lined up for this pick one having already gone (Will Schofield), Ashley Arrowsmith (Nth Ballarat), Sharrod Wellingham (Perth) and Jack Kennedy-Hunt (Geelong Falcons)

Hawever I have taken into consideration Brisbane’s history of picking one from left field with their last pick in the N Draft. Rischitelli, Forsyth, Patful are perfect example of players that no one contemplated taking or even had them on their watch list. Yet Riska and Patful have proven more than value picks and have, or are on the way to establishing a strong presence in the Brisbane side. Forsyth the most naturally talented of all was crippled by OP for his duration on the list and Brisbane in order to make room for this years draft finally lost patience and delisted him.

Therefore,

Brisbane Lions pick # 70 – James VENTRINI (East Fremantle)

The common theme amongst the players I have selected in this draft has been athleticism and football skills combined and exemplified in the versatility that they all provide for the side. James Ventrini is no different. He is a bottom aged player, who has shown he can play a midfield role and a Craig McRae type forward position. He is 187cm and 83kg. Obviously considerably taller and more physically developed. Ideal modern day footballer who will provide other options within the team's stucrure. His football is physical and tough, loves to get physical and use his aggression on the body and footy. He possesses a lethal left foot and good all round skills.

I see him as the ideal replacement for Ash McGrath. Ash has indicated that he wants to go back to WA. Selecting Ventrini is an insurance policy should Brisbane loose McGrath.

The upside potential on Ventrini, should ensure he provides excellent value at pick 70 for Brisbane.

Good pickup there Irel, I wouldn't be surprised to see Venturini end up at Birsbane on the 25th.

There are several players left that I perceive to be very similar in ability, so for the first time this draft I have decided to pick based on need. Port's young KPP stocks aren't great, I think Chaplin and Carlile will hold down the defensive posts pretty well, Willits and White have shown a bit up forward, but other than that there isn't much else coming through. So I have decided to go with Dawes ahead of midfielders I rate at a similar level. Unfortunately Dawes suffered a shocking knee injury, which will keep him out of action in '07, which subsequently will see him slide a fair bit in the draft. He was touted as a 2nd round pick prior to his injury, so assuming he fully recovers, he will be a steal this late. Was one of the dominant KPP at the Champs, although was in Hawkins shadow, so probably didn't get the accolades his performances warranted. He absolutely dominated at APS level (as you would expect someone of Dawes' quality to do). He has an excellent work-rate, has great hands below his knees as well as being good overhead. Is a smart player and will keep presenting, which is what you want your CHF to do. Rarely wastes the footy when he's got it, is a good set-shot at goal, and despite his phenomenal size and strength is rather agile for his size.

Nice pick up. You either do your homework or have good contacts in the West.
