JDG was only a couple of days before the draft. Was still rated 10-20 before that. He did have a good TAC GF but wasn’t talked about breaking the top 10.

Thomas was huge after his TAC grand final, kicking 4 goals. Pendles was not a peep.

Yeah I just remember that prior to the draft there was a lot of talk on here that we were big on him and it wasn't a real surprise when we called his name out.

Why no links to Fog?? Could be the next Fyfe or Danger or Dusty. Imagine him running amok with Degoey and Lynch up front. Make the pies start making links. Looks more exciting then an intercept marker or run off the half back!

I really rated The Fog but the thing that put me off him was his body language when he wasn’t playing well at the champs. It was really poor. Made me really question the mental side of the game. When the things get tough, will he stand up?

Yeah there was a fair bit of mail late re JDG. Most of the 'experts' assumed we would take Ellis at 2. Thomas was a bit of a surprise and Pendles was a bigger surprise. There was no noise about taking Pendlebury in the lead up, apart from one poster, whose name I can't recall, who called the Thomas/Pendlebury double on the morning of the draft.

There was definitely noise regarding JDG, dunno about Thomas and Pendles though, didn’t follow the draft that closely a decade ago.

I reckon I was Coffield’s first big fan on here but I’ve gone completely cold on him because he doesn’t have the defensive game I thought he did, and I’d like the club to build on the defensive side of our midfield before class and speed.

Hoping it’s Naughton for structural purposes, but certainly wouldn’t crack it if it’s Fogarty or Stephenson. Just hope to God it ain’t Nathan Murphy who I don’t see as one who brings much that we don’t already have.

We're one of the slowest sides in the AFL and our forward pressure / lack of line breaking speed is a bigger problem than our KPP issues IMO.
If available I would go Jaidyn Stephenson for the speed and finishing skills. Also seems to stick his tackles.
Coffields is a good second option.
If a good KPP was available, sure, you'd have to take them. However, Aaron Naughton looks like the best of the bunch. He reads the play very well but has serious decision making / disposal problems once he gets the ball.

You would think a high priority draft option from your own State would entice, Naughton has to be front and centre for Freo. Imho

Why do you think Coffields defensive game is an issue? Most bio's say he is fine and uses his speed well defensively. He's had some nice scalps like Fogarty.

That was my 1st Thought when Freo got Pick 2. Pick 2 be a Mid and the 2nd Be Tall in Naughton
