I don't get the Henry anticipation. If he's that good, we won't get him.

I remember one time a few years ago I was watching a prospect run around during the national championships... and I remember thinking that we didn’t need him because we didn’t need another big bodied 3rd tall, and instead we should have focused on run and carry.

..... that young prospect turned out to be Chas Brownlow.

Never said we shouldn't discuss him (discuss away) but I don't know why it's worthy of a Pied Piper of Hamelin GIF unless it's all cloaks and daggers, which is not the impression I'm getting.

I loath "we don't need another..." with a passion unless it's "we don't need another player we've overrated because of need".

Then you may have little comprehension of a list build as it's silly loading up on the same types at the expense of types you require and we're simply relying on cliches fed to us via recruiters who keep telling us that they simply....simply....take best available. This rarely proves to be true via the course of a draft.
Good to hear someone with a little integrity in Wells, state that he may not be after the supposed best players but for players he needs.

My loathing 'passion' is to listen to people blindly ask for best available without considering the bigger picture. This is very naive.

I hope a lot of our players take a good hard look at Jacks pre season last year and the extra running he put in to develop his tank as it payed huge dividends for him this year where he went from a maybe player to a key component of our side.

If we split I’d be rapt if we got Pickett and Rivers or Bianco, that would be a great result I reckon.

I’m going to have to watch Bianco again. A short slow outside player isn’t usually top of my list. I know he can kick it but bloody hell.

Caleb Daniel is doing alright as a short slow outside player. Being an elite kick is a hell of an attribute.

I am leaning split. But it depends on who slides.

I think you take Stephens, Flanders or Ash if they are there. Maybe if you think you can pick up a Rivers + Taylor otherwise you pass on a Robertson

What are you basing this off? The top 10 draft picks each year, usually play lots of first team football, Rose at pick 4 or 5 last year won Ports goal kicking, Stephenson at pick 5 kicked 30 odd goals the year before.

Just think that with the additions of Betts, Newnes and potentially Martin, we'll be looking to get more game time into senior bodies to help support our younger players.

Keep in mind Doc and Willo will return this season too. There's five additions with only Dale Thomas leaving.

Competition for spots will be fierce and we already have more youth out on the park than most other sides.

Look I’m going to call it here. I’ve just watched yet another Caleb Serong game. He is not a top shelf AFl prospect. He reads the play well and has terrifically clean hands....

And that’s it. In under 18 footy he has a lot of time and that has yielded goals and possessions for him that come after the reading of the play and the clean take. But he has NO zip. He can’t Marc Murphy shimmy to create space for himself. Or Caleb Daniel. Or Sam Walsh. He doesn’t have the straight line speed to do so either. Which means his disposal is under pressure. And under pressure he frankly butchers it. He has a lot of work to do.

I’m super neg on him. Apologies to his fans but he’s not a high probability of success for mine. I wouldn’t draft him top 15. I hope he fixes his flaws and I hope he makes it.

But drafting is about maths/probability.....

And for me? His numbers just don’t add up.

It's not much to go by but Twomey's form guide says he's 179cm and 88kg's.

Players in a similar role at AFL level would include Jade Gresham at 179cm and 79kg's, Robbie Gray at 183cm and 84kg's and Dayne Zorko at 175cm and 78kg's.

A club drafting Serong will most likely strip 10kg's off his frame and build his running capacity. He'll naturally become a lot more explosive with a lighter frame, so I wouldn't be too concerned about that.

If he's available at say picks 14 or 15, I'd be looking to trade back into the draft to get him. Maybe orchestrate a similar swap as what we did with the Crows in the 2018.

Serong will be a very good player.

I'm a huge fan of Henry, he is the perfect player for us and the most exciting player in the draft. If we bid on him at pick 9 Freo will probably trade pick 10 for later picks. There is talk GWS is trying to trade pick 6 and something else to Adelaide for pick 4. If that happens we should try and trade with Adelaide for pick 6 and bid on Henry at 6. It's a move Freo wouldn't expect and they won't have enough time to trade out both 7 and 10 and hopefully not want to pay that much for Henry and pass.

I like Robertson as well. Think he could round off our midfield nicely. And we do like our West Aussies.

6 of our last 11 first picks at the draft have been West Aussie’s, we aren’t shy on taking them. I can’t be arsed checking, but I’m not sure Freo and WC would be that high.
