I have been very hurt the last few days,i know you could all understand what i mean, but hearing its likely marty clark is coming back to collingwood has seriously made me VERY VERY VERY happy.I hope it is true.

Well, according to John Ralph who seems to have about as much idea of what's going on as the man at the pub.

Adam Maric is a cert to leave Adelaide according to Ralphy  Absolute imbecile.

We have a lot more room in the salary cap than blokes like Ralph realise. Expect some movement trade week.

The fact is Geelong picked apart our forward press. So we were left with an around the boundary game that struggled to kick goals in the finals. A return to 2009.

Our forwards would benefit from a long deep kick to the square that Geelong used this year. Would create more opportunities for players like Krak to feed on the crumbs.

One of the problems is that aside from Cloke, very few of our forwards look capable of marking the ball inside 50. Dawes is a case in point. It costs our small forwards that Dawes does not jump for the ball. He is too easily negated in the air because of it. It became very stark to me on Saturday watching Hawkins jump for his marks. Makes the defender's job far more difficult.

Dawes also does not hit the scoreboard enough. It puts too much pressure on others to kick a score. And scoring is the greatest pressure of all.

Rather than a small forward ( remember that Krak kicked about 35 goals for the year), I think we need a good medium size player who has a good leap, can mark over head and can kick goals. Macaffer is a good defensive forward, but does not fit the above needs IMO.

Looking around for players who fit the bill that we could possibly get I would consider Ricky Petterd from Melbourne.

If Nathan Brown comes back from injury . I would also look at perhaps moving Reid to CHF , Cloke to FF and use Dawes in the Leigh Brown role( i.e put him on a weights program over summer)
You're spot on the money kevind. I can tell you that we have already spoken to Ricky Petterd.

Getting O'Meara would be huge. Can't possibly see what we have to offer than would beat all the other clubs looking to snag him as well though. Unless a best 22 player is intending to head over to GWS and the club agreed to trade him for the first minidraft pick, which obviously wouldn't be so crash hot.

If Rocket dares suggest we pick up Josh Hill, I'll give them away forever.

He is a spud - we already have one bloke thats no good when the ball comes in high over his head in Harry - don't need another.

I hope Buckley intends to play Goldsack every week - even as an Andrew Embley type wingman/role. He is quick, tall, can defend and has a booming kick - just the type you want if Buckley intends on using the coridoor more, to get the ball long and quickly into Cloke.

Eade won't have any input into recruiting.

Tim Watson this morning was going on about Pies and a range of swap/picks to get the O’Meara deal done, didn’t catch all of it. Just wondering if anyone else got a sniff of it?

yeah apparently some dude rang up SEN before and said Collingwood are going to offer Beams and Goldsack for O'Meara. Almost choked on my breakkie.

This would be enormous.

If this kids is as good as we are led to believe I would do that deal in a heart beat.

I like Goldy but we have a surplus of half back flankers and Beams is a good player but we have plenty of mid paced half forwards/second rotation mids. To get a kid like this you have to pay a price.

The other positive would be it would free up cap space as O'Meara would be on base wage and we are bound to lose someone in the next 12 months to cap pressure and I would prefer these two than say a Reid, Pendles or Cloke who we cannot cover.

I guess that is why we would want Clarke as we would be losing two ready made players for a kid and would want to add to our depth.

Well IF Beams is going to Leave then O'Meara would be a Great Get

Collingwood must not trade Goldsac and Macaffer unless we get a super deal.
These two are vital to our forward and backline even as far as depth.

Macarthy should only be traded if say we can get the following.

If we want Port's Daniel Pearce we give north Macarthy they on trade their pick to port adelaide and we get pearce.

Or if Matty Campbell is available trade macarthy for Matt Campbell

No use in trading say a beams- goldsac for o' meara......He will take a few years to develop,if we did this our premiership chances dimish next year.

That sounds like a win-win to me, but if rumours of Beams being a pain in the ass true, i'll take that as a win to us, who knows-actually looking forward to trade week to see what happens

McCarthy has very little currency. If you want to trade you have to provide a fair trade. Pearce for all his problems has shown a lot more than McCarthy ever has.

And Goldsack cannot get a game and probably wants to go, you do not hold players against their will if you will not play them, we do not want to be like Ross Lyon.
