Who out there thinks that Collingwood will have more members than last year?? I think its hard to tell but what I do think is that teams like Hawthorn, Essendon and Carlton are more than likely going to beat us in the membership area for season 2009!!! Both Essendon and Hawthorn have much higher membership figures at this point in time and Carlton are set for a big year...apparently??!! Any thoughts would be good.

At the moment Collingwood have 18,294 member's! Collingwood are 3,000 up on this time last year! Hawthorn are 12,000 up on us so far and they will probably finish with 45,000 members.

Essendon always have big numbers early because the have a auto-renewel system. They ae about 1,000 up on this time last year (the Bombers have 24,000 at the moment). Essendon always have moere member's then Collingwood at this stage of the season but by rounds 2 or 3 Collingwood always passes essendon.

My predictions for total membership numbers for 09 are;

  1. Hawthorn 45,000
  2. Collingwood 43,000
  3. Essendon 42,000
  4. Carlton 40,000
But if the pies have a flyer to the season she could pass 45,000!

Could someone please explain what "non-ticketed members" means? I've never fully understood the distinction.

Ta.

Okay, so a ticketed member gets a membership that admits them to the game... like your plastic card that gets clipped at the turnstiles...?

And a non-ticketed member gets a card or something that does... what?

If a non-ticketed member is buying a membershipt that doesn't get them into games, they should definitely count them in the membership total. They're being completely ripped off, and would be far more profitable for the football club in question, why wouldn't you include them?

These days you can buy memberships for your dog, cat etc. Do you think they should be included in final membership numbers? Only ticketed members are included in the final numbers to stop clubs inflating figures.

Fair enough, so you are saying that a "non-ticketed member" is a member who is not entitled to attend games by virtue of their membership, whereas a "ticketed member" is given an allotment of games which they are entitled to attend as part of the membership?

Pretty much. There are a few threads on the main board which will explain it better.

I've normally signed up by this time but I was so annoyed with a number of things that happened last year I've decided they can wait a bit for my money this time round. OK, petty maybe but it's my (very limited) form of protest. Might be a few more like me.

The problem is Hawthorn have as many members as they do supporters. We have about four or five times as many supporters as we do members, if not more.

What can I say, we're cheap? :D

They need to hand out fliers at games in non-member areas to Collingwood supporters at a big game such as ANZAC day, outlining the costs, benefits and other information or something. Perhaps some people wouldn't have even considered it before :D

Hasn't Eddie said he wants to make Collingwood the first team to make 100mil in a year or something massive? lol

Hawthorn does nto offer non-ticketted memberships of any kind, or the 1-3 game memberships some clubs offer (which dont get counted, min of 4 to be counted). This means that our supporters either get a ticketed membership or nothing at all. This has always been the case, which is why our numbers have always been respectable.

And also guys, most of the fair weather supporters of our club jump on around round 5 or so, this year they have jumped on early. dont be surprised if after february the membership number begin to steady.

Don't your Tasmania 3 game memberships get counted? Special consideration from the AFL or something like that?

Its kind of like a donation to the club, like making your pet dog a member like the bulldogs do.

essendon has a donation plan where you give a sum and get the magazine and some merch but no ticket to matches, but they view you as a member

we only have tasmania 4 and 1 game memberships. 1 game doesnt count, as lets face it, tis buying a ticket for one match.

You find the more packages on offer, the less the total is for that team, the kanagas offer a mind-blowing amount of different packages, which just confuses the public, and half buy one not included in the official total even though money is going in

Ahhh. Thanks for clearing that up.

We do it too. We just don't count them in our total.
