Drawing board attempt #1. $403k remaining....

D: L.McDonald, Touhy, Williams, Birchall, O'Shea, Doodee, Morgan (BEN), Murray (BEN).

M: J.Kelly, M.Crouch, MaCrae, Fyfe, L.Weller, LDU, Andrew Brayshaw, Dow, Mutch (BEN), Freeman (BEN).

F: Barlow, Billings, Heeney, Lobb, Bennell, Venebles, W.Riolo (BEN), Ahern (BEN).

R: Sandilands, NicNat, English (BEN), McInerney (BEN).

Nice one! I'll have a play and see what I come up with.

At first glance of your team:
-Not sure about the best strategy with regards to cash left in the bank will be - I should have kept another 100k in the bank to upgrade to Titch and T.Adams after R1/R2 this season to catch their ride up, so will probably keep a bit in the bank.
-Not sure about rookies, as always, will have to see how things go! I acknowledge your initial try!!
-Interesting choice not to go with any of the big crew (Danger/Titch/Rocky)
-As a Freo, I'm not sure about the pick of Sandi - I suspect he will probably not play more than 16 games (injuries and the progress of Sean Darcy) so wouldn't pick him. Nic Nat will be very popular though.
-Forward looks decent!

Quick try:
DEF: Yeo, JJ, H.Shaw, Sicily, L.Jones, N.Murphy (170k, 170k)
MID: Titch, Dusty, Cripps, Fyfe, JOM, Brayshaw, LDU, 170k (170k, 170k)
RUCK: Gawn, Nic Nat (170k, 170k)
FWD: Menegola, M.Barlow, R.Gray, Parish, Bennell, Ryan (170k, 170k)
Left over: 126k cash.

Looking like the best value might be in the forward line. Keen to avoid mid-pricers in the midfield so may not have someone like JOM, whereas Parish/Bennell should go well up forward.

I'd avoided Menegola add the cats cane out and said they recruited AlerAblett as a mid, so I suspect it'll hurt his output.
I can't buy into Parish improving enough to justify the mid price point.
I'd taken Sandi as he was well under priced and although not long term should get to the bye. Gawn/NicNat will be super popular.
Backline is solid, jury mainly out on if Shaw is done as the main weak point.
Can JJ and Sicily handle being tagged? They had some stinkers last season when they did.
What's the value in Jones?

Yeah it's all a bit up in the air.
Lots of questions we need to see pre-season form to help with esp. around the Geelong crew with Ablett, the Dons with their new signings, and if any of these mid-pricer types will get a more 'off the chain' type role in 2018.
Jones looks to be on the rise and will probably be popular.

First attempt. Very open to suggestions.

Too much midprice madness? This is only my second year of fantasy so I'm not 100% whether going for mid-pricers over premos in search of more money later is an effective strategy, let me know

Yeah too much midprice! You'll be able to pick up more of the top 10-20 draftee rookies in the 200-250k range instead.

Attempt 2, a couple more premos with this one. How much of an issue is those 10 r14 byes going to be

Looks decent!

Won't be an issue at all, should probably have more than that.

R10 = 2 teams
R12 = 4 teams
R13 = 6 teams
R14 = 6 teams

Given you can load up R10,12,13 bye teams in R14 you can afford to have a couple more, especially if they are midpricers/rookies.

Ideally you would have something like:
R10 = 2 teams = 2-3 players
R12 = 4 teams = 6-7 players
R13 = 6 teams = 8-9 players
R14 = 6 teams = 10-12 players

Quite light in DEF and FWD lines and taking a risk having Witherden D2, Barlow F1, Robinson F2.
Could come off though! I would probably switch out one of two of them to someone safer, eg. Heeney up forward or Yeo down back?

The light DEF and FWD is mainly due to the fact it's early in the pre-season. In saying that I have done some changes, Witherden is now Simpson, Kelly is now D.Beams, and Barlow is now Billings.

Back in your own judgement of you think Barlow can go better than Billings then pick Barlow.

I really like your side and certain players in it.

Mitch Robinson, Cripps, Fyfe, Lobb ect

It's a toss up between the two atm. Had both last year and they both pumped out great scores for me (well until Barlow broke his leg). Liking Barlow tho due to that bye. The other changes made were due to either just being better options or bye structure.

Plenty of time left in the pre-season :thumbsu:

Rocky yay or nay? Priced at 103, there's so much intrigue with him, could be 20 points under priced if he gets that inside mid role with Port
I can see him playing inside mid for 80% of game time along with Wines and SPP w/ Ebert, Polec on the outside.

Big bodies in the middle surge it forward to Dixon, Watts, Gray, Wingard, Motlop, S.Gray & Boak. Looks a genuinely dangerous forward line.

Read an article earlier where Rocky reckons he'll play more forward than he did at the Lions, but with those names up there that you mention, it's hard to see it. I'd say he'll play mostly mid and if he stints up forward could kick a goal or two as they'll get it up there a lot. What do you see him averaging?

100% Mid - 130;
80% Mid 110;
50% Mid 80.

Could potentially play multiple roles during periods of the season. Maybe FWD to start and working into the season building for finals?
