You just made my bullshit meter go off the scalefunnily enough yes
Buttifant's credentials (associate professor from memory, but there was definitely a PhD amongst them) are earned by peer review ... and those peers are from in the sports science field (not AFL coach buddies).
For example, there is daylight between Buttifant's credentials and Dank's credentials - it's an insult to Buttifant that they even share the same industry.

If we are crediting Buttifant for his input in 2010 maybe he was to blame for us running out of legs in 2011 because we did not run that season out well.
After the Lions match where we stopped to walk we were gone,I would also question whether we had to reach full fitness for the nab cup of 2011,surely the aim must be to cover the ground best on GF day not march and we were supremely fit early in 2011 but we died in the arse just like our flag chance.
So realistically we were going to change from Buttifant anyway and I actually would have given him the arse anyway for his efforts over the last 2 seasons it was time for a change.
More on the coaching side of this discussion, I remember when Malthouse came to Collingwood I moaned to anyone who would listen about the negative game style he was bringing from West Coast to us. I hated his boundary hugging tactics with them. The fact that it brought us a flag has indicated which of us knew more about football. My point is, that has always been his game plan. I can't associate it with the fitness coach.
Well that game plan did win us a Flag but I still hated it
TD, you posted in another thread that you started watching footy in 2005. Imagine if by the year 2045 you have seen the Pies win only one more premiership. For some of us on this board that is our reality. ANY gameplan that delivers a premiership is beautiful.

It is Buttifant who is credited with coming up with the bench rotation scheme.
As I type this I'm actually sitting in a diner having lunch about 10 miles from Flagstaff where our team used to go for altitude training.
Anyway, where I'm staying at the moment is only at about 1600m and - whilst I'm far from being an elite athlete - I can definitely feel the effects of altitude training and being here has given me an appreciation for how it can work. I'll write more about that another time.
Does anyone seriously think the 2010 game style was boring to watch? It was aggressive, relentless and high scoring. We averaged well over 100 and limited out opponents to well under 100. It was dominant. I found it inspired to watch. But maybe I like different things in footy than some.

It was kinda boring in 2011...hmmm 60 point win or a 100 point win this weekend?
Now I miss those days![]()
I remember about mid 2011 there was a swathe of posters complaining about how boring it was. One and a half seasons of dominance and everyone was yawning! Crazy stuff!

I liked that we won a flag, among other things?Too many posters want to praise everything that is new or associated with Bucks, and criticise everything that has been discarded or associated with Malthouse.

You do recall those last few games 100% right and what the rest of it you say is spot on,we were in trouble after the footy show plus Shaw,s gambling fiasco as well Thomas 2nd suspension.IIRC the pies had a interstate game which they smashed the dockers by 80+ then the infamous Geelong game, Which Malthouse should rested the entire team, the Cats had bye only the week before.
Then 2 brutal finals games, Thomas suspended, Reid, Jolly, Swan, Didak, Welligham, all injured, the GF was ours for the taking, we had Geelong, Malthouse had his revenge already, he shafted us not Buttifant, 2011 was perfect, it was all perfect, that last quarter of that GF, is 30 minutes of my life I wish to never think about to often.
Anyway this new guy will do his job well, the club is 100% professional for it not succeed.

Ridiculous isn't it. I mean I never tire of beating the Poms 5-0, sorry Pricey.
I'm glad you mentioned cricket, it drove me batty years ago when we were belting everyone in the cricket to hear people complain how boring it was. You can never beat the Poms or Indians by enough. As for the maggies, 2011 was fun as we'd already won the flag so even if we had our usual GF stuff up (which of course we did) it didn't matter as much
