I'm happy for Waite and Thompson to get another year I just hope that they don't stall the development of the youngsters.

I think they are there to help the youngsters develop and provide cover & protection for them.

The club has shown in recent years they’re not going to put any individuals above the development of the young fellas.

Perfect outcome then and both older guys deserved the extra year.

I went Nielsen on the assumption that Thompson & Tarrant aren't in the team. Durdin or McKay can play CHF and swing if required. EVW third tall defender. Don't want to be too top heavy considering the trends.

Harvey, Firrito, Petrie, Gibson, Dal Santo have all been moved on when they would have been capable of playing another season. We should have maintained that trend by respectfully moving along a player who will be 32 early next season who plays in a position where we arguably have more young depth than anywhere else.

Dal Santo was done, Spud was just making up the numbers and Drew was going missing regularly. Gibson is a limited footballer that did well to get where he got.. Boomer finished top 10 in the B&F, but he was 38.

Thompson is still a quality AFL defender, finished 6th in the B&F, and will be 31 at the start of next season.

There's also the cap space to be taken in to contention.
