Why shipping off Burton for Chad was the right call for the Hawks
Hawthorn made the right call to ship off Ryan Burton and bring in Chad Wingard, writes Marc McGowan

That all australian stat has a best before date on it i feel we will have 3 in the AA team and 2 of them will be players that will come from that post 2006 batch of players imo.
When pigs fly...Straight kicking at goals does it every time.
One day it will be our turn![]()

With all this modern day training ideas do they still seriously practice goal kicking? When pigs fly...
If only more time could be taken for our players to practice set shots
It will be a good trade for us if we can get Burton on the park. That article has aged well![]()
Basically it is saying that even though the current Chad is average, lazy and unfit and regularly injured they made the right call because they have ample defenders lolThat article has aged well![]()
Indeed, i am hoping Burton will become less injury prone as he ages. I am excited to see what he brings to the backline when he returns. It will be a good trade for us if we can get Burton on the park.

Would welcome Wingard back but it is odd that he's completely hopeless, even as a forward for us 20 possessions/game was also what he gave us.
That said I can't say we won that trade considering Burton is always injured and that Wingard still has 2x AAs and a B&F over the trade package
Mate our guys can miss 20 meters out straight in front in the first 5 minutes of a game.My theory is and always has been that gut running til your near ready to collapse is the reason why goalkicking is so poor.
skills haven’t gotten worse, only kicking for goal. It’s well known across all sports that people execute skills poorly when they’re suffering fatigue in their muscles and when they’re mentally fatigued.
footballs running and physical contact are far more challenging on the body than basketball or soccer.
I’m not sure why people keep asking why goalkicking is so poor. It’s obvious I think.
Wingard + Polec going to the Crows next season would be something though
