wrong, lyons is not afl standard at all. i was a fan of his last year when he actually wasnt picked. then he actually got opportunities and he was shit in every one of them. Can't kick? He pretty much never misses a shot on the run and he's streaks above some of the putrid field kickers we have in our 22.
The mistake has been that we haven't backed him in and given him time to develop as a HFF who occasionally rotates through the midfield. The sub rule has butchered his career at Adelaide.
VB had a shocking middle third of the season, but the coaches thought he did a very good job after he was recalled (refer to his B&F voting for this period). If we pick up Anderson, Seedsman and Hampton there's no way VB will be selected. He was borderline at the back third of the year and will be overtaken quite quickly.
Agree. If we are an aspiring top 4 side, guys like Lyons, wright, vb and Mackay are not even on our list.he is honestly not good. people rated him on his sanfl output when he wasnt given a go. when youre at the match you can see everything off ball. he is lethargic, lazy and does not run defensively at all. literally crouch and thompson look awesome in comparison. his kicking is bad and for an inside mid where he supposed to have the quick reflexes/thought process to get the hands free and whip out a handball to someone (thompson and crouch and danger and douglas all good at this) he is slow. hes not just slow in pace, he is slow in the mind. gets caught a lot and makes the wrong decision a lot. we will not lose ANYTHING by losing him. he would be a good pickup for a team with literally no inside mids. bit like GC last year. other than that hes not an AFL player

If you look at the B&F voting, the EF vs the Bulldogs. The BigFooty faithful thought it was awful - the coaches loved it.When was the last time VB had a high quality AFL game?
Danger would never agree to go to Melbourne Football Club. Can't force trade a player who is contracted against his will. Never an option, and no idea why people even mention this like it was a ever a possibility.I wish we traded danger last year for Melbournes picks
Vader. What is your opinion of VB? Not what the coaches think! You!VB had a shocking middle third of the season, but the coaches thought he did a very good job after he was recalled (refer to his B&F voting for this period).
VB isn't even the first player to be in the firing line - Mackay and Lyons would both be gone long before him. Quite possibly several others as well. I have no problems if he's forced out because others are performing better, as was the case when he was dropped to the SANFL, but it's more than mildly ridiculous to just assume that he's going to be replace by these players - particularly given that none of them can even get a game at their current clubs.
West AdelaideDanger would have refused the trade ......deal therefore buriedI wish we traded danger last year for Melbournes picks
That's not true either. The problem is that we have too many of this middle-of-the-road type of player. There is room for them, just not so many of them. That's where the Tiprat penalties have really hurt us, is the inability to cull the dead wood from our list over a prolonged period of time.Agree. If we are an aspiring top 4 side, guys like Lyons, wright, vb and Mackay are not even on our list.
And how many other dominant performances has Seedsman had? Why do you think the Collingwood fans are so happy to see him go?
Any player can have one game where everything goes their way and they look like an absolute superstar. Whether they can back that up, with regular high standard performances in subsequent games, is what determines a player's true quality.
I'll admit it's somewhat hopeful the players I listed all live up to their potential early in the year, I just don't see VB doing anything to help us get to the top of the tree. These 3 have the potential to do so. That's all I'm saying. If they bring their A game I hope for our sake they overtake VB. Mackay and Lyons are useless, I agree. Perhaps I should've included Murdoch as well.VB had a shocking middle third of the season, but the coaches thought he did a very good job after he was recalled (refer to his B&F voting for this period).

So you use B&F voting when it suits, how did VB go for the year? How about 2013?If you look at the B&F voting, the EF vs the Bulldogs. The BigFooty faithful thought it was awful - the coaches loved it.
I've seen him play and break his leg. Absolute jet and dominated over Ramsey - best player for Sacred Heart by a mile save for Gregson although hard to compare different types.27
Jack
Darling ...Height 191 cm .....same size ...correct?
Have you seen Burton play? ......seems a ghost ? ....after 18 months with a Broken leg it's strange he's projected still as first round
He got a 9, which ranked him 10th best.If you look at the B&F voting, the EF vs the Bulldogs. The BigFooty faithful thought it was awful - the coaches loved it.
I think he's a damn sight better than many here on BigFooty give him credit for. He was a genuine gun - a B+ player (where A-grade is reserved for those who at least make the AA squad of 40). He's not that any more, but he still offers far more than some kid who has been in the system for 3 years and still can't make the 22 of a team which finishes below us on the ladder.Vader. What is your opinion of VB? Not what the coaches think! You!
VB wasn't too bad in the EF versus the dogs, probably one of his better games for the year. But he's a senior player that goes missing quite often, that's a massive No No for mine.If you look at the B&F voting, the EF vs the Bulldogs. The BigFooty faithful thought it was awful - the coaches loved it.
And the voting for that game was bizarre. He got more votes than Danger, Thommo, Douglas and Talia. No chance was he better than any of those. He got a 9, which ranked him 10th best.
Are you me? Perfect! If we want to go forward, Wright, Mackay, VB and Lyons are not part of the side going forward...Would be happy to see Wright, Lyons and maybe even Hendo go via trade, VB and Mackay can boost the SANFL side. Do not want to see either in a senior side again, both have shown on the big stage that they aren't up to it.
Personally I would be keeping Kedge, Grigg and CEY.
Kedge is a good utility player, CEY is something we don't have in abundance..a tall mid and Grigg hopefully gets another chance, because you don't throw away elite kicks by foot.
Can confirm all of this, and add to it that a Police friend of mine chased him through the city one night because he was being disorderly and thought he'd test his fitness out rather than stay and chat.Actually rate him as a player, think he is played out of position. He should be played on the wing and before we got Eddie in, he should have been our small forward because he is quick on the first ten steps and has goal sense. Being as we have Eddie and the Jets as our small forwards then Jaensch possie should be wing where he can use his kick into our f50 to our advantage.
As a person, I would willingly have my left arm sawn off above the elbow so I had something to beat him to death with. I challenge one person to spend 5 minutes with Matty and not walk away muttering "douchebag" under their breathe, even his mother would. Tries way to hard to be the clown, first couple of times you kinda laugh but pretty soon you're excusing yourself from the table he is sat on. Some people would say he is a good old fashioned larrakin but those people still wear Hungry Jacks sunglasses and mullets...which sounds like Froggy to be honest
Which means that 4 of the 5 voters considered that he "Played his role. Beat his man – added to our team offence or defence." In other words, the coaches were more than happy with his performance. He got a 9, which ranked him 10th best.
You believe that the above mentioned crows players are walk up best 22 in any of those teams either?
Magic leadership powers. And the voting for that game was bizarre. He got more votes than Danger, Thommo, Douglas and Talia. No chance was he better than any of those.
