2nd rounder next year will hopefully be around the 30 mark.

I'm okay with this, especially if Curtly cements his spot in the side and we get a years use out of him before the selection comes into play.

Remember a 2016 2nd rounder is probably 4 years away (as of today) from making any meaningful impact at AFL level.

Why a 2nd round pick ? surely that's overs
Second round next year with us not having Danger could be pretty close to Norths deal for Anderson considering they get 2 later picks back and everyone is laughing at them. Seems overs to me for someone that is not in GWS best side but hopefully works out for us.

we have 28 & 32 this year and unless we delist someone else we wont be using 28.

We need to trade someone out now for a second rd pick 2016. Its a stronger draft. See ya DMACK

Yeah, that's the tricky bit. In a supposedly stronger draft, we'll have a first rounder, which will probably sit between 10-14, and then another pick at 46-50. We'll need currency to get a pick that's higher, unless we have a player desired by other clubs who wants to move.

So, we've got:

2015: 9, 13, 28, 32, Hampton, Gore
2016: 10, 46, 64

If it's a stronger draft I'd like to know what the club plans to do to get up the order.

I think people need to reconsider this.

This method only had relevance when it comes to FS and Academy picks.

You aren't going to trade pick 5 for pick 15 and 18 because of some bullshit points system the AFL dreamed up, unless you need academy picks, or you don't want top end talent.
But that is what the clubs are using. You may think it a bullshit system - but that is a different debate. It has become the defacto break even system in any trade. Every club will be using the scoring system as their first measure, and then they decide whether or not their needs outweigh the average points of that system.

Do NOT like. 2016 is a strong draft and giving up what could be a good pick is disappointing.
As always, we slightly overpay on a deal that we didn't need to. Hampton picked us, should have been a 3rd round pick at best. I'm assuming we will now trade either 28 for Seedsman or trade whatever we get for Kerridge.

We really need to try and trade out some fringe players here. Clubs seem willing to overpay for players this year given a weaker draft. Can we run around and suggest Mackay, Wright, Lyon, Henderson and VB are all available?? Should be able to get some takers and some good picks!

Is it just me or does 'second rounder' sound a lot sexier than 'a pick in the late 20s-thirties', which is what it will realistically be.

Glad the deal got done, fulfilling a need. Now get Seedy done for 32.

We've been screaming out for pace and good ball users and we've done that with Hampton and probably Seedsman as well. Probably around pick 30 for someone likely to be best 22, fills a glaring need and still young. Satisfied.

With 9 and 13 we can probably add to the pace/class as well so definitely happy with our moves so far.

Yep something else is up our sleeve for sure.
Could have easily used pick 28 or 32 for Hampton.
IMO we are getting one of GWS's first round picks this year in a package & trading away next years 2nd rounder was a handshake agreement and part of the deal that's coming up.

So we keep our 2 first rounders and 2 second rounders for this year which to me is a little strange. I still think we're giving up a second round pick for Seedsman which will leave us with 3 picks in the top 32 at least. Are we going to the draft with 3 picks in the top 32? We've definitely damaged our chances to get a group of talented youngsters next year.

Edit: Maybe we're in discussions with Carlton for a pick in next year's draft with a Kerridge trade? There's every chance that Carlton's 3rd round pick for next year will still be a top 40 draft pick.

Lyons & Grigg come out of contract next year, we'll have some currency

happy to get hampton but
disappointed by the administration ... getting unders for danger .. and paying overs for the others ...

1. Danger was out of contract and in reality we couldn't get 2x first rounders. It was the best we could hope for.
2. We have 2 first rounders , whilst addressing speed with Seedsman and Hampton. We have done really well imo
