If you think Rhyce Shaw is a Barassi/Pagan-esque aggro type, then your eyes have been seeing something different to the rest of us over the past year. He is not one to blame the umps for our shit performances, nor is he the type to get fired up about a mistake, whether that is by an umpire or a player. That is the style of Shaw, for better or for worse. Feel free to take up coaching and replace him if you think he goes about it the wrong way.

We played woefully, and to be honest were lucky to really be that close in the end. You can't play like dogshit for three quarters of a game and expect to come away with the win. There were some ****ing awful umpire calls, absolutely, but teams should be able to win in spite of the umpires. We weren't good enough today, and we deserve every criticism that we get.

Don’t play Xerri or Campbell forward ffs, they’re RUCKMAN. Nothing against Xerri, he did the best he could and I am sure his time will come to play in his preferred role. But playing him as a permanent forward is insane.
We have tried playing two rucks in the past, other sides have tried it and it just doesn’t work.
When you take into account the shorter quarters and that Goldy has an incredible aerobic capacity, it is even more insane.

Did you not see any of our footage from 1) the pre-season, 2) intra club games, 3) Marsh series? X played predominantly as a forward in all of those and did alright, showed a bit. As he did tonight.

The players did us over too, Snake. Forward of the ball movement was stagnant for half of the game. We constantly held ourselves up and allowed the Hawk's defensive structures to reinforce.

They were put on the back foot by the disgraceful umpiring.

A few poor disposals aside, I thought he was one of our best. The defenders were really under the pump tonight. Macca, Taz & Walker all saved us from being down by 9 goal at 3/4 time.
One passage of play in particular where he went back with the flight of the ball to mark it was pretty courageous.
I think he’s had a half decent season so far.

1. Ok. Give him a call and tell him if you feel that way. Throwing tantrums isn't going to change his coaching style or his personality.
2. I'm speaking for 'us' because anyone with eyes knows that Shaw is as laid back as they come. It comes across in training videos, interviews, shots of him in the coach's box. He only ever has one look on his face, a look of mild interest. There's none of the phone-smashing, expletive ridden crap of Brad Scott. The man is level-headed, rational, but above all, relaxed. If you seriously think that Shaw is anything but laid back, you clearly haven't been watching the team.
