If the new lights at Boss James Reserve are installed in time for Round 1 (and providing they are strong and powerful enough to enable games to be played under lights), why not have Hampton Rovers v St Bedes Mentone Tigers to be the first Premier B game played under lights on a Saturday night, with the first bounce at 6:10pm (AEST)?

Must be real schmick lights if they are up to real-deal game standard, Jase.

If that were to occur reckon Friday night would be more the go.

How would residents in nearby houses feel about it?

That's been the problem with Collegians and their lights.

You actually lose the ball in flight and the electronic scoreboard makes it worse.

Damn I hope so. Training was a pain in the ass missing one of the Bluff road towers for ages and full flooded light would be a huge boon.

My ladder at the end of the h & a season:

1.Old Melburnians
2.St Kevins
3.St Bedes Mentone Tigers
4.Old Brighton

5.Hampton Rovers

St Bedes gone up in your estimation in the last couple of weeks, Jase. Like your thinking.

Who would you have on your ladder-the final 4 and who would be relegated back to Premier C for 2016?
you are very enthusiastic Jase. People can only base their tips on this year not next. Who knows who or who wont run out for various sides?
Based purely on this year
St Bedes Mentone
Old Brighton
St Kevins
Old Melburnians
Hampton
Mazenod
Ajax
Fitzroy
Parkdale
Caulfield

with Robbie Nahas and Jake King to join Caulfield, Ryan Ablett back at Fizroy, three ex fremantle stars at Mazenod, Sam Blease to Old Brighton, and Clint Jones to St Kevins just before the deadline
the ladder will look more like

Mazenod- Heath Black give the ex -freo players something new- a premiership
SKOBs- headed for more finals ignomy when Clint Jones cuts a swathe through the Tiger's defence to give St Kevins a last minute win. Brian Speaking tattoos Clint's face on his right arse cheek
St BM
Caulfield
-top all year but blow up after King and Nahas punch on in the forward line; King flexes and breaks Nahas' jaw.
Om's
Hampton
Fitzroy
Ablett drags the roys a few games clear
Ajax
Parkdale
Old Brighton
- Blease tries to run the length of the field with Plugger on his hammer in round 1 and tears his hammy form the bone, Brighton never recover.

Way too early for me to have a crack at a ladder, Jase. Admire you doing it though. Do feel that St Bedes will be a force though.

Probably not for the 2015 thread but maybe the year after. Heard a rumour today that may raise a couple of eyebrows from someone who follows Caulfield Grammarians. It is rumoured that the Grammar's best ever graduate Chris Judd will not be returning to play football there once he retires from AFL, rather an opponent in Old Haileybury. I am lead to believe that his kids will attending early learning or primary school there in the future. No doubt Caulfield are apparently disappointed from what I was told.
Like I said just a rumour I heard today so no need to be calling blue murder yet but a case of watch this space I guess. Maybe someone from Haileybury or Caulfield know more?

They are certainly planning well ahead as his daughter is only 8 months old.

Hardly matters where his kids go to school. When Judd retires from the AFL that will be it. Body is shot to pieces and he will have no desire to keep playing.

This. Judd will not be running around as a 30 something Ammos player. He will finish up at Carlton when his body is done.

Forget his physical conditioning, I dare say his wife could stump up for the kids' school fees with her Spring Carnival appearance money alone.

Come back with a rumour that's remotely plausible next time please.

Hmmm! Doubt her take for the carnival would come within a bulls roar of a scholarship for all primary and secondary education x 2. If that is what Hack is suggesting is on offer.

Agree it sounds far fetched but OH does have a history of using scholarships beneficially.

As for Judd's post AFL footy, who would know. Harves was thought to have been shot too.

I was only talking one year. As if OH would be able to guarantee tuition in 2030!
Annual fees it would be a bit like this

Early learning / Primary school $15k x 2 = $30k
Divide by 9 race days (Caulfield x 3, MV x 2, Flemington x 4), plus another 6 x DJs et al appearances.... At $2k a pop. Reckon it'd be pretty close.

Academic really.

Do you know how scholarships work?

I know that an old boys football club would be hard pressed to convince its school board to waive 13 years of fees for a football player's two kids (estimate of $400k per head allowing for indexation) on the basis that player is going to join the old boys for one year minimum.

Any school board (if stupid enough to agree at the outset) would shut it down immediately when the player hangs up the boots.

Well at least you have expanded your knowledge base to now know that scholarships can be for ".....the duration of the student's schooling......." As most would be. So we've made some progress. ;)

How AM got two full bursary scholarships from early learning all the way thru to VCE in exchange for playing a season at OHAFC out if this post is probably the most astounding aspect of this discussion.

Apologies for reading and interpreting the post in its literal sense.

NB: if the player buggers off after one season, no doubt the child's scholarship would be terminated too. Then we get back to the capacity of R. Judd to earn $30k for one year......

Nice little deflection to cover your unfamiliarity (to be kind) on how scholarships work. I'm pleased to have sorted that out for you. :)

Truth be known FWIW I was on a half scholarship at school from year 6 to year 12 and my Dad only played Ammos for Uni Blues.

Earnt it on academic merit apparently.
