You can't put a suspended player on the team sheet!!

Deliberately breaking the rules. Should be relegated.

Lets try and get the facts right Maxwell. Word is that Vultures requested permission or asked the question to the powers to be on whether or not the player in question [ suspended ] could play in the lower level 3's I think during the bye weekend. They were advised that he could by the VAFA. Since then a change of leadership with the new VAFA cronie saying they have breached the rule after two whinging clubs had a sook. No guesses on who they might be ? and have overruled the original decision. Word leaking out of head office is that they were meeting this week, after vultures appealed, as you'd like to think that a decision would be made before this weeks games. Waiting for the spy to update ?

That's my understanding as well. Team managers can't place the player on the list until the League clears them on Sporting Pulse. Either they've written his name in on the day or the League have cleared him to play.

Don't know if you could call the 2 other clubs sooks. I think they have every right to complain. However if this is the case, the issue lies with senior management at HQ. Someone at HQ must have reinstated him on Sporting Pulse as the system stops you from choosing a suspended player. If Parkdale has been advised that he can play and have picked him accordingly, I don't see how they have done anything wrong.

If all this has happened I would think that HQ would be cheering for the Roys this week, if Parkdale win..... who knows where we stand.

FWIW I'm tipping the VAFA are also cheering for everyone against Beaumaris. That early draw due to lightning ain't dead yet........

The 2 highest placed District clubs... Maybe after all this it might become an Old Boys comp after all.

Old Brighton vs Old Carey
Fitzroy vs Parkdale
Old Scotch vs Mazenod
Monash Blues vs Peninsula
St Bernards vs AJAX

Round 17 Tips:-

I'm with the burger. Hope you enjoy the welcome at the Frearson tomorrow.

Think Parky are travelling a bit better than the Roys having seen both over the last few weeks. If Parky lose Dillon again that's gunna hurt though.

Could be some blow outs tomorrow if conditions good.

OB v Old Carey - OB don't need this but neither do Carey. Carey's pressure is the worst in the league and seeing as this game doesn't mean anything to them, they won't challenge the cruising OB.
Fitzroy v Parkdale - Elimination game. Toss of the coin. Maybe Fitzroy home adv.
Old Scotch v Mazenod - OS don't need this, Mazenod do. Will be closer than expected but Scotch shouldn't lose.
Monash v Peninsula - Monash still the most likely to finish 4th. Good for the comp if they do because they can challenge St Bernards in the finals. They will win large.
St Bernards v AJAX - Bernards could quite possibly rest a few here but still think they will get the W at the pit.

brighton
parkdale
scotch
monash
bernards

Let's assume Parky made the request, and the the VAFA mistakenly approved the Parky bloke to play (I don't know if either of these things are true). Why would a club even think to ask them? 'Jimmy got rubbed out in the twos - let's try and play him in the threes'. Fair dinkum, that is just trying to game the system. How would the opposition Club feel to see that bloke running around against them while he is meant to be serving a suspension. By that logic, if the suspended bloke was Boland, he could play threes and kick 35.

Based on initial facts, my comments stand, but it would stand for any club who played an unregistered player. Again read my comments it wasnt specific to your club.

General rule states is if you are suspended in the seniors, say for 2 games, you must miss 2 games that the seniors are eligble to play. Given the byes the top 3 grades have, whilst some 3rd's or 19's games are being played, these do not count as suspended games.

The fact that any club would seek permission is baffling as the rule is very clear.

With regard to Parkdale, if they got permission, then the VAFA lateri reneged, an email trail should fix this. I'm guessing there is no such email.

If those are the rules, they need to be changed.
Two weeks should be two weeks regardless of a bye. You can't belt someone (for example) then just play the 3s the week after because the team you got suspended in has a week off. Laughable.

Winter

The rule is: if you are suspended in the senior, you must serve them according the number of games the seniors play.

If the seniors has a bye you can't play in any other team, but those games don't go towards the games the player must miss.

If suspended can't play in any other grade.

Hope that clears it up.

So you're saying that the bye game should be included as a week of the suspension because the 3s have a game.....?

You're suspended from playing any football for however long it takes for the team you played in (when you committed the offence) to play the number of premiership matches for which you were suspended. Another example would be getting three matches in the second last game of the year, and not being able to play until round 3 the following season.

I play in that thirds side at parky (missed most of the season due to injury) but I'm 99% sure that the game in question was a make up game with Ajax because we couldn't play them earlier in the year due to them only playing Sunday's and us having a club function the night before the fixtured game.
Without knowing the exact facts I'm assuming they got an exemption for him to play that game as it was actually a game from earier in the season.

Despite the top 4 pretty much locked. A few games actually hold some weight this week.
Parkdale v Scotch
and
Ajax v Fitzroy

Old Scotch won't be taking this game lightly, as you always want to take form into finals. I think they will win by 50 + points, making the AJAX v Fitzroy game all the more interesting. If Parkdale lose by more than 62 points (say 50-112), they will be behind on % to Fitzroy.

Ajax have to beat Fitzroy by roughly 80 points to give them a chance of making the 4 (not that I think Monash will lose to Carey). In the same game, Fitzroy have to win or at least keep the loss to a minimum to stay up for another year.

Hopefully the live scores work.
