The folk at Bellerville continue to be active recruiting wise.

I guess the old man has been very persuasive in one instance.

Quite a lot for JJ to look forward to next year.

For sure AM. A very positive vibe at the Bell and it seems the club power brokers are keen to ensure we don't spend too long regrouping in B grade. Led to believe there is more to come but can’t help thinking we could have used some of this depth and talent last year.

Hope this thread not just dominated by DLS comings and goings. Any other B grade news?

Not all positive at DLS as Schwab taking a job at Wesley.
It’s absolutely a positive. Great opportunity for Schwab who is a career educator rather than a part time football coach. Plumb job that involves Saturday work so one or the other had to give way.

Easy transition with an exceptional assistant (who has taken all of the pre-season training) on hand to take the reigns.

I wonder where that leaves his son as he had crossed to De La.
According to this it leaves him well and truly at De La.

Reflecting on his announcement Schwab was hopeful of a successful 2020 season for the Dees.
“I am disappointed to not be in a position to lead the Club in it’s endeavours to rebound in 2020, after this year’s disappointment. I do however have great confidence that Dave will do a great job. He has an existing relationship with the club and many players from his previous time with us, and he has been outstanding since preseason began. I thank the Club for their support and understanding. Jenny and I look forward to watching our son Michael at De La next season.”

You would think that his son knew this was coming.

Might be a bit harsh, but he cant coach. I think that was pretty clear for most people to see.
Pushed out of the AFL Umpiring gig. Who gets sacked from the AFL unless your "batting of your crease"?
Im sure his son will follow.........

A bit harsh? Coached an AFL club to within a kick of a grand final and has just been appointed the COACHING coordinator at a prestigious Melbourne school. Would not be clear to most, including the power brokers at Wesley (of which your co-prez Hibbo is one)

Reality is he inherited a team that barely survived relation the year before, lost 5 of its best players in the off season and then got slaughtered by injury. Turned over close to 50 players in the seniors and with no depth they got what they deserved. At the end of the day it’s all about the cattle at your disposal.

Shame for Peter as last year he had a B grade side playing in A grade while this year it will be an A grade side (or close to) playing in B grade.

Anyway I see more good news on the club social media pages this morning. It’s getting like the EPL ! Bring on 2020.

De La absolutely flying at the moment - I'm going to call it now that Dave Madigan would be in the top 5 coaches within the VAFA. Once again my local bias may be showing but the buy-in he had from the playing group in his first stint was amazing.

My membership renewal can't come in the post soon enough.

Why so shy JJ? :) Terrific pick-up. I feel a quick bounce happening.

Not shy AM, rather just hoping for news about other clubs rather than this thread being dominated by DLS coming and goings. Not in the inner sanctum and rely on club communications in the off season for recruiting news like everyone else. Having said that and while flags are not won in December I am absolutely delighted with what I have seen.

I know there are posters from Blacks St Bedes, Carey, Willy and probably other clubs that surface here from time to time. Would be good to hear about a different club or clubs for a change.

I have been following the plight of Carey this off-season with interest following a disastrous season.

From what I can see on the transfer page so far, outs are: Evans (reigning best and fairest), Lock, Reinbold.

Whispers around that Crocker, Jaksch, Cust and Leon are looking to move elsewhere too.

If all these blokes don't line up for Carey they are effectively losing their entire top third of players and I'd be shocked if they can be competitive in B grade.

Willy have recruited a couple of blokes from Westbourne Grammarians from the transfers. Not sure about a lot of them but I see Michael Culliver who played in the B-D4 Big V side a couple of years ago is one of them.

Also, is there any truth to the whispers down at the Dairy Bell (I'm old fashioned and the ground will always be Dairy Bell to me) that a few blokes who have been plying their trade at Mordialloc are coming back to the Bell?

Your "sugar coating" him JJ.

I’m not FF. Just calling it as a I see it, based on his record at the highest level and from observing his efforts under a fair bit of duress last season. If he is so bad why would Wesley offer him a plumb job such as the one he has just accepted? As we know these APS roles are lucrative and highly sought after.

Is there something personal between you and PS perhaps?

Add Jason Ashby and Liam Mackie to the Carey departures. Carey have a history of attracting some top end talent so will wait and see what happens when clearances re-open but agree early signs don't look all that good.

Ashby didn't play this year, but adding those two and you have half of a seriously good B grade side not at your club. That spells reason for concern.

No not at all. From my limited dealings with him, a nice guy. His son will be a loss, young and on the improve, good for De La.
Dont know his job specs and I doubt if we will see him around the boundary of the Trott. (watching son at play at De La).
I think he was actually employed for his teaching skills (school) and not for his footy input.
Time will tell, but good luck to him...hope it works out.

How did he go coaching in the EFL?

While I had initially dismissed it when it was mentioned on this forum a while ago, Brett Eddy continues to be mentioned as a certain starter for De La this season.

After dominant seasons with Vermont he could do some real damage in Premier B.
