Mick just playing "mind games" IMO.

I have no doubt Presti will play vs the Saints.

Disregard the "6 day turnaround". He is basically having two six-day breaks by not playing this week vs Melbourne.

He will be fine IMO. Good player management by the club. Hopefully we manage Josh throughout the season too.

Sounds like a MM "backhander" to me, responding to the "Presti would've played against tougher opposition" question from the media.

I'd say Presti is a 70% chance to play next week, but as mentioned, he hasn't beaten Riewoldt in a long time (although he has restricted him somewhat) so it may not be the end of the world if he missed 2.

We need Presti against Hawthorn, with Roughead and Buddy, but with Kosi out, the need for Presti isn't as bad next week.

Long season, if Presti isn't 100% right, he will not play next week.

Roo has killed Presti last few times we played them, so if its true than at least Kosi isn't playing and it will somewhat even out. Though as others have stated I think this is more to make it look like we aren't resting our best defender purely because we are playing the worst side in the comp, expect to see him line up against the saints.

Probably has a corky.

I'm glad they are going with Reid as the 2nd tall, he needs matches, he is a better prospect than Nate Brown, and looks far more suitable for playing on guys like Riewoldt and Franklin. Really need him to find himself working in our backline

It's just Malthouse babble ;)
We are clearly just 'resting' him. He might have a very slight niggle, but realistically if we weren't playing a bottom 4 side tomorrow he'd probably be playing.
I said last year the I thought he looked flat at the end of the year and his old body was probably worn out. I think it's also a great idea to give Ben Reid a chance at senior level.
So it really works for us on a number of different levels. Of course if we happen to lose tomorrow and Reid's opponent is the catalyst, we could end up with egg on our face... but we know that is pretty unlikely.

Considering presti didn't train all week it's hardly crap that he might not play next week.

Malthouse never tells the truth to the media, but how does everyone automatically assume that he is "better" than what Mick is saying and not "worse".

Wishful thinking:D
lets worry about it next week either way there is still a game until this becomes a real issue.

I thought Maxwell played pretty well on Roo in the final last year, I'd be willing to give him a gig first up if Presti is out.

As others have said, its just Mick playing mind games trying to pretend he didn't rest him from the weaker opponents.

Clearly what others have said. Not injuried, just has no match up against Melbourne, and keeping him fresh for Roo.
