Re: Let me put this to you

Stanton is seen by the coaching staff to be a permanenet HFF who can push forward to the wing/midfield but will ultimately provide 2-3 goals weekly for the team

He doesn't look anywhere near close to giving us 2 - 3 goals every game so he should remain in the midfield with Prismall as first up and Stanton being first back up if there's such a thing.

Prismall certainly looks more damaging from what I've seen already and always positions himself well at stoppages.

Prismall is better than Stanton. Has good endurance, better decision making, better disposal and isn't one dimensional like Stanton. Also, Stanton turns the ball over alot.

I think if you guys are serious at matching it with the best midfields, you need guys like Stanton and Dyson being fringe players.

If/when you guys come good, and you are a competitive side which you havn't been for the past few years, Stanton would become a fringe player.

I certainly rate Watson. He would be just what we need at the Pies. We need an extractor. Hopefully Beams and Sidebottom can develop into that sort of player for us. ;)

I would've agreed with that comment in past years but this is by far Swan's best, most damaging year. He's also touching the ball 35 times a game.

I wonder why your coach tagged Stanton last week and not Prismall

You'd think if he turned the ball over a lot the opposition coach would be glad to have the ball in Stanton's hands.

And his efficiency is at 69% this year as compared to Stanton's 75. ;)

Kelvin

You are making a ridiculous assertion about Swan, not being tagged.

EFC put their number 1 tagger Welsh on Swan, and he was obliterated.

You are too hung up on efficiency ratings.

You need to look at the kicks or handballs that have hurt factor.

For example, Lovett's kicking efficiency is around 73% but his good kicks hurt the opposition.

And what does Lovett's 27% do? Possibly give the opposition 2 goals like last Friday night. ;)

As for Stanton, he has a lot more hurt factor in his kicking. It's why coaches look at tagging him first in our side.

Stanton has a great penetrating kick. It causes a lot of damage because it can break open zones.

Swan rarely gets tagged because the coaches don't respect his disposal. Stanton is first tagged in our side because coaches respect that aspect of his game.

Nathan Buckley has said many a time that Stanton is great penetrating kick.

I'd rather take the advice of coaches, commentators like Buckley then a select few on forums like this who will forever be blinded by preconceived ideas and myths.

I have mentioned many times on this forum about how Lovett, should never kick around corners or sideways.

You need to understand that Lovett's kicking is elite, when he is at full pace on the run, something which few players are capable of.

Swan was an average player again tonight !

AFL coaches must listen to you Kelvin because they don't respect Swan's ability and are often hurt.

Stanton is one of the youngest if not the youngest to reach 100 games at his age.

i dont see him being replaced, he was given number 5 for a reason.
He definently has improvement left however
