What’s the word on Payne? You’d think Aspley would’ve had him as the number one target?

Not sure even Payney knows what he is doing to be honest. Think Caloundra
Div 1 in running for his services as well.
Unless it’s stupid money like 30k surely Payne stays at Aspley with a genuine premiership chance. No disrespect to Grange but they’ll be lucky to win 4 games I reckon

Not sure if even Payney knows what he wants to do. Wouldn’t count Caloundra out of calculations either.

Wherever he ends up will be a bonus for that club no matter what the expense.

In regards Hammelman and Rolls probably lured back to Redlands with chance of winning the club some silverware after having pretty rough trot for a lot of years at NEAFL Level.

Reckon few-sides gone up another level so makes the competition even better.

Hearing Labrador on verge of signing an ex Geelong defender?

Apparently Hammelman, Rolls, Franks (Redland), W.Fletcher, Greene, Reville (Sherwood) and Abberley (Grange) all have offers or have signed with Brisbane Lions to play VFL.

The coach actually has the best program in the QAFL in my opinion.

the kids are just kids but you’ll see the benefits in a few years time. If kids are coming from the sunny coast to play at grange he must be doing something right.

miller just has a crack at Beama because he’s passionate. You see the quarter time sprays but you don’t see the love he has for his playing group.

Bit more to it than that.

Has a long standing relationship with the Caloundra coach dating back to MPNFL days at Rosebud. Wouldn't surprise but I could nearly guarantee there wouldn't be the sort of $$ he is used to on offer!

Thats a ridiculous comment, unless of course you have a full understanding of every clubs program? Thats no knock on Grange and im sure the program is great, but if you aint got the cattle then it will be what it will be. Obviuosly Grange have far to many kids and it seems they recruit alot as well, and the ones from the coast are being poorly advised with 2 great clubs already here, must be something else on offer. Challenge will be to keep them together for an extended period of time to see the benefits. Time has told that there last few seasons have been bereft of any success as in winning games of footy. Im sure theres great people involved and you would think they're not happy to just participate in the QAFL and striving to be a serious contender.

This shit is ridiculous.

Grange had 5 boys from the Sunshine Coast aged 17 -19 playing there in 2021.

Three of them have been at our joint for 3 years and played in the 2019 Colts premiership team as 16yo’s, Charlie Bowes came down fron Noosa last year as an 18yo, and all four had a connection with Brent Moloney from his time doing junior development coaching up the coast.

So, we had one SC boy, a 17yo, join this year who was a schoolmate of some of the others and played mainly Colts with a couple of senior games late in the season when our injury situation went from bad to worse.

Payments to this supergroup for 2021 would have totalled around $1k, primarily to cover petrol costs for young blokes who, not surprisingly, tend to travel to and from training together.

If anyone here reckons there’s “ more to it than that”, and actually knows more about the situation than me, go for your life.

Labrador have lost a heap you would think they are active.

Agree it’s a ridiculous comment. If Grange’s program is so great why are they continually down the bottom of the ladder. All clubs look to develop their younger players but having a few 25-28 year old leaders to help bring them through is part of that.
Without that core you are forever a young team rather than a good team and young guys move on or stop playing if they don’t see light at the end of the tunnel just ask the GC Suns

Agree and disagree.

I agree that at some stage results have to speak for themselves eventually and agree that the best development program needs several seasoned leaders to have win/loss success

I disagree that you need anything like a good development program to have an immediate & favourable win/loss result and I disagree that at the 1/3 of the way mark of Grange's "youth" strategy that you can give it a pass or fail mark. At end 2023 I reckon you probably can

except that 3 years ago they had a youth policy too?

and 3 years before that?

GC Suns like

Maybe some of the issue here is Granges ability to draw / keep players ,,, got good facilities ,,,,tell me whats missing / lacking in the clubs ability to have some succeess

Young blokes need a decent amount of 24-30 year old to progress their football I believe. I’m not sure if grange has had that demographic of players for a while now. Certainly not top end players

I don’t get why everyone has a crack at them on here though. Always been a well respected club with great volunteers. I personally hope they work their way up the ladder in the next couple of seasons but it’s very hard when the strong performing clubs keep getting stronger

Think they have already signed a few others as well already. Looks like they having a reset away from the Academy’s into VFL Team unless they are well above average and on draft radar.

I think because they sprook a bit and never go anywhere. They need some experienced players, instead of chasing Payne with the reported money being offered go and get 4 experienced players. If they keep the kids will be a good side one day but really a few years off it still.

Where has the money been reported?

Agree. But if you had the chance to get Payne you'd surely go for it

This place is worse than a sewing circle. Banter is one thing, but so much innuendo gets thrown around as fact, it's ridiculous.
