I'm sorta a bit confused in regards to the Swans playing in the Canberra comp.. I know that they are limited to 11 to 13 players vs a full opposition team..

My question is.. does this mean the swans limited team play a full strength Canberra 18?

To me i don't think it's a bad thing as it would even the teams out but definitely develops the young un's a lot quicker ie. needing to be more quicker, skillful, smarter and the rest of it.. which is prob why if that's the case why so many of the 'young blood's' are so developed.

A bit confused by your question.

I think the answer is the swans are limited to 13 listed (including Rookie) players on the ground at any 1 time. the other 5 players are made from top ups sourced from Canberra or Sydney.

So there are 18 players on the field at all times if that is your question.

So what does the rest of our list do in regards to playing footy?

You may need to get Liz to correct me as I am aware Liz is more knowledge about the Ressies than myself.

However I believe that the rest of our list play with Tuggernong if there is an overflow.

Not the best situation having them play there in my opinion, I think if there is an overflow we should distribute them among the SFL clubs as these guys are the one's who would be well off senior selection and need a boost in confidence or fitness rather than heading toward a club that at some point will have conflicting interest to that of our own.

Oh ok then.. i thought as such.. but would be confusing for the 2's as it'd get confusing considering if they're working with set plays or passage of plays.. I'd feel for the guys who are the top ups...lol.. they're more or likely told to just stay out of the way..

So thanks for the help.. makes sense now.. prob not ideal for reserves but doesn't help being isolated from VLF,SANL..

Last year it was better as I think the top ups were young guys from the SFL who stuck with us, I think Bruce and and Terlich have been rookie listed this way.

This year it is hard for the top up's, at least in Canberra based matches as I really think there players there clubs can do without and mean nothing at all.

I don’t mind the restrictions on AFL players playing as I believe the VFL have the rule for go it alone teams too. I don't like the fact the top up players rule as I understand this year as it means they will be unable to fit in with the team and will be ignored by the other players. I would be much happier if we had 16 and 17 year old kids with some talent to expose them to the game topping up the side.

It's a good op i guess for the top up players.. they've been given an avenue that they might not have been given.. considering Longmire's overseeing the team so if a top up player's good enough then he's got a good chance of being rookie listed.. considering how cut throat the draft is.. at least rookie's are given a couple of years to prove themselves..

We only need to see some of our rookies and how they've been nurtured..
