Question re Club Song

[Red Crow]

Hey guys,

was just wondering if anybody could clear up something thats been bugging me for years. I don't know why its taken so long for me to ask on here but anyway...

Can anybody tell me why a different version of the club song was played after the Grand Final wins to the one that is played today? It has the same lyrics, just a different arrangement. I'm sure you've all watch the GFs enough to know what I'm talking about. I initially thought that perhaps the song was just updated some time around 2000, but the version that is currently played at matches was played after the 1997 Semi Final win over Geelong, obviously before the GFs.

Also, if anybody actually has this alternate version as an mp3 I would love to get a copy of it.

Ah yes correct. There is actually a slight lyric change. It is a dodgy one but i still sing it cos its the only version i've ever heard at games since I've only been going the last few years.

They were experimenting with it a bit i think. The original version of 95(6?) was different again (anyone remember that?)

By my reckoning theres 4 versions - the 95 original, the two mentioned in this thread, and the god awful version that you can get on CD- you know with the electric guitars and stuff- horrible.

I knew they changed it, and it answers a query I've had for a while now. I as a latecomer to football (only started being interested in 2001) and I was always sure it started off with "mighty Adelaide Crows" but the lyrics I hear these days always said "known as the Adelaide Crows". At least now I know I wasn't imagining it.

When did it get changed?

I think the real question should be why the need for the change in the first place? Mighty sounds better than known as. I wonder who thought it would be a good idea to change it.

Secondly, I reckon theres been about 8 different versions of your current song...whether its changing the music, changing lyrics a couple times, adding 'go crows' at the end...it seems every second year there has been a small edit to it somewhere.

I disagree with the current club song. That "KNOWN AS THE ADELAIDE CROWS" really gets to me. I think this version of the song has been in use since 1997.

No matter how good or bad this team is. WE WILL ALWAYS BE THE MIGHTY ADELAIDE CROWS!...... This team has allready done some MIGHTY things in its 18 year history.

I also do remember the song named "Here We Go" in the first 3 years of the club. It was quite funny actually.

On the topic of the club song. Does anyone know where i could get a copy of our original song, 'Here We Go'. Shocking song i know, ultra cheesy but it would bring back alot of magic childhood memories if i could get a hold of this song!!

From memory it got changed from "we're the mighty" to "and we're known as" at the start of the 2006 season. Possibly 2005.
