Given it never happened to Gryan Miers, do you think other factors might have been at play?

I agree with that one, although I prefer those corn rows Parfitt rocked for a game a few years ago. He looked like a man that would run right through you at a stoppageBoth of them have good hair.
According to the long threads critical of Guthrie that's correct

He hasnt grabbed a game by the scruff of the neck yet has he? He's just insurance at this stage, unless they plan to give him a big block in a few weeks and rest Higgins.I don't like saying this, but Narkle is done at Geelong.
Duncan, Mengola and O'Connor out last week, and he still can't crack a spot in the midfield.
Miers out but he can't get a spot as a small forward.
Doesn't even crack the team as a sub.
Holmes has clearly gone past him as a midfielder, and Stephens may have also. Stengle has jumped over him.
Evans get chosen as sub ahead of him. Higgins and Dalhaus still getting a game ahead of him. Close still getting a game ahead of him.
Only signed a 1 year contract at the end of last season.

Seems like it, but hey it was just round 1. 22 to go.I don't like saying this, but Narkle is done at Geelong.

I am not sure if he is recovering from injury, haven't seen any reports indicating this to be the case. He was fit enough to play VFL, and they played Henry who was clearly underdone. If he was in our plans I think he would have played.Seems like it, but hey it was just round 1. 22 to go.
Was it just form that kept him out of contention last week or is he recovering from injury?
I think you'll find he did alright in a couple last year. Particularly round 10.He hasnt grabbed a game by the scruff of the neck yet has he? He's just insurance at this stage, unless they plan to give him a big block in a few weeks and rest Higgins.

Don't reckon he gets a gig somewhere else as a DFA?Won’t play more than 5 more AFL games.
Sad, as the person who started this toast thread.
He could have gone to any of the other 17 AFL clubs for cheap last season - he was out of contract at Geelong, and while his manager reported up to 6 or so other clubs being interested in him, I don't recall one report in the media with even a hint of genuine interest from another clubDon't reckon he gets a gig somewhere else as a DFA?

The major difference in game style for me Saturday wasn't the willingness to play on but the manic desire in the first half to shutdown opposition space. The last few years we tended to sag off and or corral, Saturday guys were even rushing up to man the mark, you could see the pressure they were applying on the ball and the effort put into chasing. The knock on Narkle has always been that he is a good attacking option but defensively he jogs. Watch some of the Essendon mids in the 1st qtr Saturday to see what happens when you do that. Have a look at how hard Holmes works without the ball to understand why he is ahead of Narkle in the pecking order. The hard part for him is getting into the side now...as I suspect the style we are using now would suit him more than anything he has played in at Geelong. It's a long year at Covid could change sides at the drop of sniffle and cough. If gets in and plays well who knows but basically I agree... its not a good sign that he is not in the best22.
Cats2022 and thecatattack i stand corrected.Yes. Last year v Collingwood at the MCG, I think. He and Parfitt teamed up beautifully

You didnt think he did that in his 34 disposal game last year.He hasnt grabbed a game by the scruff of the neck yet has he? He's just insurance at this stage, unless they plan to give him a big block in a few weeks and rest Higgins.
He's been given just 30 games. I don't understand why he has to dominate games in order to secure a spot while old plodders can no-show game after game and continue to get selected. Surely we should be giving younger players time to develop in favour of keeping on those past their expiry dates who have no room to grow.He hasnt grabbed a game by the scruff of the neck yet has he?
