A broken tackle is not counted. If it took 3 tackle attempts to finally stop a person, only one tackle is recorded. Just like if the 1st attempt was successful.

The attempted tackle stat might be inflated, but we don't have that number.

If the player is tackled, but the ball spills out and is collected by another player, the tackle is recorded even though the ball movement has been slowed just slightly

Id like to fly over but geez cheaper fuel prices do not equate to cheaper flights do they?
I think the secret is to book them when the AFL Fixture is released or rob a bank.

I love driving over. $250 round trip. Well worth it.

Depends on whether or not there are any undisclosed injuries, and whether or not Seedsman is ready to return.

Assuming Seedsman is fit, I'm guessing Seedsman <--> Lyons.
Assuming he's not fit... no change.

Seedsman for DMac make so much more sense on multiple levels.

Not sure why your suggesting Lyons? he was our cleanest midfielder out there yesterday. McKay was average to woeful.

Can't see Lyons being dropped, nor should he.

Smith was good against North and West Coast and his defensive stuff has really improved. Cant believe some of the stuff I'm reading. He hasn't kicked a long goal lately so has been disgraceful??

More like doing his job quietly without being a standout. He is capable of more no doubt because at his best he is a matchwinner but nowhere near borderline selected.

The same Brodie Smith that can barely kick a normal drop punt right now and can't hit a target that is a mere 25m away?

Yeah he's been great:thumbsu:

That's your opinion(s) and you're welcome to it (them). I think Lyons is currently the last player selected, and will be the first one out. I also think that Mackay's game was much, much better than many here seem to think.

If they were making the changes strictly on form, then Brodie Smith would be the player dropped. I don't expect that to happen.

Doende won't play this year unless there are significant injuries. No way he comes in for Cheney. Cheney's been very good despite the flack he receives. Otten would be next into the backline, Jake Kelly would be ahead of Doedee. I like the kid, but he's not ready this year.
I would say during the pre-season all those 4 mentioned, unless Otten doesn't get traded, would be vying for that 3rd defender spot. Cheney has a lock on that at the moment.

I agree that Doedee probably won't play this season, but Kelly should be behind Doedee based on their respective form this season. Kelly is more hardened from his pre-seasons, but Doedee has been playing much better. Otten is more seasoned and his form has been good, but over the last few months they would be pretty close in terms of votes (or should be).

Hyperbole much. Would easily be top 10 in the b&f.
His good has been very good but his bad has been dropable.

If anyone was to miss this week they would be very unlucky. Seedsman deserves his spot back but like Mrouch may have to wait.

You could also consider that it's Mackay that Smith is unable to get a position on the wing ahead of, what does that say about Smith?

He's well off the mark and I'm surprised anyone can suggest his season has been unrated given what he's been doing of late. Can only think that his 2014 season has been forgotten. Was a year where he killed it but had some really quiet games, something we all thought he'd look to match and improve on yet he hasn't gotten close to that since.

Was well off against Melbourne but as I said in the good/bad thread, his tackling was on song and by far the best I've ever seen him tackle so I'll give him credit for that.

Would go unchanged again assuming there's no injury from the game.
They reckon seed is gonna be available

Seedsman likely to be available according to the email they just sent out. You'd think he could be straight in if he's only missed a couple of weeks, but I'd expect them to not make any changes and for him to play SANFL. He'd be a plus at the MCG with his kicking though.

Snore. Lyons is crapping all over Mackay this year (and this is probably one of Mackay's better years in 2-3 seasons), but don't let that get in the way of your continued hate on him.

I think Lyons is important given how poor Thommo is going, M Crouch maxing out at 70% TOG, B Crouch getting up to speed and Dougie struggling to provide a 4 quarter effort. Mackay is easily the least most important and easiest to replace player in the current 22. It's not an accident that we've got more inside mids in the side at the moment compared to a few weeks ago. It's highly unlikely that Lyons will drop out for Seedsman. But the club has historically found reasons to keep Mackay in the side, so I can't argue that you don't have that on your side.

Just to clarify, I don't think Mackay was poor enough to be dropped as such, but if Seed comes in and there's no injury to replace, then a player must miss out. For mine, Mackay is the most expendable in terms of his overall form, performance ceiling and current role.

When that happened and Melbourne crumbed, that usually resulted in a goal, not a supplementary tackle.
Disagree with you there, can recall a few times where we laid multiple tackles in one play phase, but they just seemed to keep coming up with the ball, and it happened around their half back line when they were trying to exit.

Lyons in danger - give me a spell

23 poss(12 cont), 5 clearances, 7 I50's a goal.

FFS

Agreed. First time ever the bloke gets a consistent run of games and he's been good. He's still building too.

Dropping him now would be a dick move, especially considering our upcoming opponents

That simply is an un-truth .......but Lyons has flourished since having a sustained run and the faith of selectors

I've always said Lyons is a clone of Terry Wallace when he played at Hawthorn

Vader, Vader, Vader. When will you get over this hatred of Lyons. They guy is playing well. Selectors admitted they got it wrong earlier in the season when he was dropped for Crouch while playing well. They wont do it again. He offers something different to our other insiders. He actually kicks the ball and looks when he is kicking it. The crouches on the weekend both had a heap of handballs. Lyons had more kicks than any other midfielder. And he genrally hits the target. He is also a very good tackler.

Vader with Lyons
NTRabbit with crouch
Sanders with JJ
Everyone with Mackay (including me)

There is no chamging some people despite good consistent performances
