Nyhuis can play tall and also lock down something Logue and Hughes haven't shown yet. Pearce played hbf against Port. Surely Nyhuis should have been in the side and Pearce running around for Peel. The word was that Pearce was told it would be Peel for the season. Don't know what happened there.

Yeah fair call. I guess I just feel we should be developing the other two in that area. I like Nyhuis, I just like the other two a lot more

Really?....oh sorry I must have been reading another big footy website then.

His point is that we have a lot more than just 1 game to go on. We have the last 3 seasons.

I had Sutcliffe and Kersten in my list of outs but I’m ok with Sutcliffe playing - it was only 2-3 years ago he was one of our best young players and small defender. He has just lost confidence in himself but was ok in the JLT series and in round one. It also allows Blakely, Wilson and Ryan to be more attacking.

I’m also OK with trialling Kersten as a 3rd tall in defence if Johnson is dropped.

Due to the gap in ages of our squad, I really don't understand why players like Nyhius, Grey, Duman,
are not considered.
Why are they on the list then? We have seen enough of D Pearce, Sutty, Sherro, to know what they bring.
These guys are in that 19-24 year bracket, done several preseasons, and know the system.
Grey is that hard nut, tagger missing, Nyhius the lock down defender missing, Duman speedy utility with
height and run.
I like that we are bringing in the youth, but you need a few unsociable characters in footy, it is still a
contact sport?

Geez Shane imo would get absolutely murdered down back. May as well drop him.

Seriously considering Kersten down back? What planet am I on?
people prob said same bout Tarrant and Liam jones.... and a multitude of players who switched positions over their careers, remember Rodger Hayden was always a forward flanker/pocket before cuddles shifted him in last minute effort to save his career.
Never say never

Do it at Peel.
Kersten down back? Yeah Id agree with that , just don't think we should dismiss the idea as to never try it, namely cause like some of those other players I think Shane's time at afl won't be long unless something changes with him ala he s clearly not getting it done up front

I think you can justify dropping Kersten with Fyfe and Mundy rotating through. It's not like he is a massive marking target inside 50 anyway. I don't see the downside of trying him out in other roles at Peel. Think the long term has to be Dixon or Apeness up forward with McCarthy as 3rd tall so can see him getting pushed out eventually anyway.

Can see Duman as another tall option that is versatile enough to play defence or push onto a wing. I've often thought whether a taller winger might help some of the ball movement through the middle of the ground - that we often rely on our taller forwards coming up the ground to provide and leaving none of them deep. He's also a pretty decent kick i50 and can launch a goal himself - as per his 3 goals a couple of games ago and his excellent form in last year's WAFL GF where he kicked a very important goal. If he keeps his recent form up at WAFL he'll get a debut in the coming weeks I'd think.

Ross does seem to love the Kersten + McCarthy forward line. Stuck to it pretty religiously last year (at the exclusion of Tabs) and lined up that way a lot against Port with Tabs in defence/ruck.

So out

D. PEARCE, Johnson, Sutcliffe, Ballas and Kersten

In Cerra, hamling, Dixon, Crowden, hill

We can dream

With the exception of Dixon (and rightly so) I imagine that is how it will pan out. Certainly sounds like 4 changes are being made this week.

I would be really happy to see Dixon play. It would go against everything I've seen from Fremantle over the last few years, but maybe just maybe we'll decide to go for it. How exciting would it be to see him a play and kick a couple early. Bring it on.

As talented as he seems I reckon it’s unlikely. He is still very raw and RTB isn’t huge on raw.

Apeness... Another "if only" story. Really thought we had a gem there but injury has smashed his early career.

Out: Pearce, Sutcliffe, Johnson, Kersten
In: Cerra, Hill, Hamling, North

Ross has been talking up North - I hope it is his time.
