Very Good: Been mentioned in some posts above, but possibly Nicks best game day coaching. Clear, calm message at quarter time to arrest the rot. Good moves in the last - Dawson forward on Sicily, Curtin into the guts, Rankine on ball.

We've had selfish senior players before, which has cost us.

Now we have Dawson, who puts himself on Day and Sicily, Tilthorpe who impacts every contest, Worrell who goes to Gunston when he's on fire.

These guys want the important/hard jobs, its a very nice cultural shift.

OK, apparently Brodie Smiths nan passed which is why we had the black armbands on, so maybe head wasn't completely in the game tonight.

Brodie is a top guy. Wouldn't be opposed him being sub in our grand final side.

The tactics were also good to watch, hawks changed their style about 3 times I reckon and each time we found an answer.

Nah, we've gone for half back flankers to replace Laird when we have this year. We only have one small role where we want a gun shutdown player, which is Max.

It gets interesting if we drop that one because then our dead rubbers become really important considering Geelong have 3 potential 100 point wins from the last 4 games.

Funny thing ... earlier this year (first 3-4 rounds) Curtin looked lost and it was clear teammates were kicking around him.

Then he found his Mojo --- genuine elite talent and footy nous --- and his teammates now look for him and kick to him, knowing those beautiful hands will take a mark or if it goes to ground he will recover first and go again.

I can't remember such a tall young Crow with his skills bursting out of mediocrity into stardom, so quickly.

Yep. It's a warm up for our players before the finals - expect no favors from the maggots, because you're not going to get them. Thank them if you do get one or two.

Lessons from 1997 and 2017... the former our players didn't argue with them (or worse, ourselves) and the latter we did. Sometimes there's nothing you can do about it, no matter how unfair it is. You just have to be better than your opponents (and everything else) and wear it, and if you do, then nothing can stop you.
