Collingwood playing their "best 22" is good for us because they have lots of out of form players right now.

What we don't want is excited, in form youth to come in and rejuvenate the team
Do they have much of that? Most Collingwood supporters seem to feel like they are all in on a flag this year with not much sitting behind it. Obviously they have a great squad but they haven’t exactly been hitting the draft.

Not necessarily super talented players, but I'm sure they have guys desperate to make the firsts to win a flag.

Eg. Us with Dowling

Yeh, I guess. Just pessimistic given we simply do not know how to beat Collingwood. The record is disgusting.
That i won't argue.

More about mindset than personnel!

You're surely not arguing Bobby Hill is more important than Howe...... surely.
Where did I say that, my comment was on Bobby Hill who on his day is one of the premier small forwards in the game, they don't hand out Norm Smith's to just anyone, he performed to an elite level on the most important stage...the Grand Final.

Rachele equivalent of Hill.

Howe is more important to their backline structure than Max.

Rachele far superior to Hill.

If we played Collingwood in a final and you got to choose whether Rachele, Max, Laird, Hill and Howe got to play for their respective teams what would you chose. I would chose them all playing.

And Mark McGough won the Anzac Medal. Hill played amazingly well that day, but let's not act like he is a premier small forward of the competition.

Bobby Hill has kicked 3 goals in his last 4 games against us and has averaged 8 possessions. He has been a total non factor.

Theyve been saying that for a month.
Every game they lose means they are closer to a win. They have no fear with coming here, and they always seem to beat us when they shouldn't.
We have three bogey teams, Collingwood, Geelong and Hawthorn.

They will bounce back and the pressure on them now to make finals is massive. This is the week they have to win.

You just know the Pies will bounce back this weekend.
I agree, they're going to take it too us. But I still think we should get this one.

I genuinely believe that scare against the Eagles was perfectly timed, and the big wake up call this list needed. Form/ladder position/hoodoo's/homefield/away. Its all meaningless if you don't come out switched on and 100% ready to play every game. 5% off, and the game gets away from you in a hurry.

I doubt they will make that mistake twice.

I'd back the kid in TBH. I think he's shown he can make a offensive players day very tough in every game he's played, and by all reports has the tank and physicality to go with anyone.

Plus he doesn't really need to stop Daicos getting the ball, he needs to impact Daicos in getting his preferred 2:1 uncontested to contested ratio. Stop him from being a part of all those free chains of play that leads to Collingwoods scores. Thats where Daicos kills teams IMO.

Watching him run around like an unregistered dog against us has been a real source of frustration to me.
Absolutely, Bond brings a bit of hardness around contests in the backline but he might get lost in midfield contests against Daicos.

Their strength against us is winning contests at our HF line and moving the ball fast so our defence can't get set. Almost all their goals at the MCG game came from turnover + hack kick or 20M handball forward to space. I understand why we shut the game down that day but I'd like us to open them up with precision passing.

All the more reason to give him a go for me. They gave him a go on Merrett in his 2nd game from memory, and he did alright in the first half, but got beaten in the 2nd (not a slant, Merrett is a Star).

But getting a guy who can stop a star outside skewed player is a valuable tool come finals. Which is why i've said before, once Bond gets his spot I doubt he gives it back.
