Jones—> Bond
Laird —> Nank
Ah Chee —> Maley

I think this strengthens our backline and hopefully our ball movement quite a bit. I’m backing Bond to have expelled his howlers in round 1.

Jones could get a reprieve…. But is really solidified in a 25-30th player slot and I cant see him developing further.

So I'm still at a loss

If reports are true that Nank is likely in for AhChee

Bond will come in for Laird

Maley comes in for who???

Does Bond need to come in? One area has to lose a player from the rotation because we’re adding a second ruckman.

If you were wanting to "make a statement", Maley in for Fogarty would be a good one.

Fogarty has still kicked 4 goals, even if he kicks 2 goals a game for the season that's still nearly 50 goals overall. You don't just drop that.

Luckily decisions aren’t being made on 2 games with at least 21 to go on a 36 year old. He started off better last year and struggled in lots of game.
in fairness, and i certainly wish this wasnt still the case, tex is much more important than fog to us.

I agree, I think these will be the changes.

Do you think Nank will play a defensive role on Dempsey? Nanks height will help as Dempsey loves a mark in the goal square.

Have a feeling Maley might actually have some sort of impact on the game, he doesn't seem like the type of bloke who's just going to be a passenger. Like if he's not getting touches he might just crunch someone like a Stewart in a marking contest.

If they were good judges, Nankervis would have been playing round 1 after a strong preseason.
lets hope he gets in and proves his legion of followers correct. to me, he and taylor are our most over rated players but would be very happy to be wrong as he has good athletic abilities and a couple of tricks. just his decision making (inc getting caught htb) and skill execution seems a worry to me

Who've you got in mind? <== not a trap question. I'd really like to know.
I answered this elsewhere but briefly, Laird out. Cumming to half back.
Nank to Cummings wing
Ah Chee out. Marsh to add dynamic alternative.
Soligo out. Edwards in to help Berry provide some speed with muscle in the guts.

But... I see we're debuting Finbarr so there goes my theory. I guess we'll just rely on getting an outrageous amount of contested marks.

After the Collingwood loss last year he had kicked 25.4 in 8 games.

In the 17 games since (including the start to this year) he has kicked 20.16. Even extrapolating this year out to 8 games is 16.8, well below his best.

You can certainly consider dropping him if you are wanting to maintain premiership standards.

He’s kicked 4 goals to start the season with shit ball movement, he’s also not our go to forward, it’s TT and Tex. No chance he gets dropped and it’s a dumb suggestion.

In the last two rounds of his run of form to start last year (win vs Port, Loss vs Collingwood). He kicked 7 of Adelaide's 21 goals.

This year he has kicked 4 of 26.

He was scoring nearly twice as much in a forward line that was statistically even worse.

And if he's not a "go to forward", there's even less reason to lock him in.

Because he kicked 7 goals in 2 games a year ago he should be dropped because he’s only scored 4 in 2 games? If he averages 2 a game that’s a 46 goal season. No one is getting dropped for kicking 2 goals a game, no one.

So what do you make of Ben Keays form? Only kicked goals in 4 of his last 8 matches, and only six in total.

That's after kicking 32 goals in his first 19 games of 2025

You could just as easily do the same with Keays.

But he's unlikely to be replaced by a 197cm forward.

Personally I would lean in to leaving Soligo out to find fitness, second options would be Pedlar or Keays.

I for one wouldn't want to see Pedlar out. His bash through 2 tackles and dish off to Tex is the argument to why we should be giving him bursts through the centre not dropping him.

I would give Fog a burst through the centre early in games to get his hands on it similar to Thilthorpe too.

25.4 in 8 games is a torrid pace and unless your name is Jeremy Cameron, it's probably unsustainable.

It does regress, but let's also remember the 2nd-4th forwards usually hover between 25-40 goals in a lineup, so contextually, it's not as bad as you claim. To go one step further, if we are getting 2 goals a game from Fog, we're punch-drunk happy with his slot. After all, we already have Thilthorpe.

Not to say Fog is locked in for the rest of his career. I could imagine him ending up in danger rather quickly if Ludowyke booms as a prospect. However, that's not a 2026 (or realistically 2027) proposition.
