Versatile Crows tall Scot Stevens has been named among five possible inclusions for Sunday’s clash with Melbourne at the MCG.

Stevens, who trained with the main group today for the first time since he was knocked out against Fremantle in round three, is likely to be recalled and Jonathon Griffin has been named to lead the ruck for the first time this season.

Myke Cook, Jarrhan Jacky and Brad Moran were all named on an extended bench.
There will be at least two changes to the team, with Ivan Maric and Brad Symes not named in the 25-man squad.

The squad will train on Saturday from 10am at Max Basheer Reserve before heading to Melbourne in the afternoon.

Tough luck for Symes

Don't know what Cappy is on about.

I'm thinking probably Moran, Jacky and Cook as the emergencies. Maybe one of the smalls in for Shirley.

However, if the game is looking to be especially wet I'd be very tempted to put one of the latter two in ahead of Stevens.

Walker named on the field I see. Hopefully this means he will play even if Stevens makes it in the side.


Great to see Cook make the emergency list again!


From that list I assume Moran drops out, probably Jacky and Cook are the two that miss unless Shirley gets dropped, in which case you'd have to think like-for-like would see Cook come in.

Just looking at that interchange list, I think it's ordered by guernsey number, not likelihood to play.

You'd think that the two ins would be Griffin (named in the ruck - so a definite inclusion) and Stevens.

The other possible change is Shirley out, replaced by either Jacky or Cook.

Moran would be provide coverage in case something happens to one of our talls between now and Sunday, with Shirley and Jacky/Cook covering for the smalls.

Reilly, Stevens and Petrenko will play. Shirley doesn't deserve to be retained, so I'd probably give the final spot to Cook, just ahead of Jacky.

Interesting, Reidy just mentioned that Symes was dropped on form, not the broken nose (he said he'll probably play SANFL anyway this weekend), and that they feel they brought him back in too soon.


I'm recording this Reidy interview, I'll put it up once the interview concludes.

I wouldn't play Stevo, if he's still suffering from that knock, we can afford to give him another week off against this side.

I'd be pretty disappointed if Petrenko was dropped.
